'Please Give' is a Dram-edy about a NYC antiques dealer who becomes guilt ridden over her balancing of worlds. On one hand, she doesnt allow her daughter to have expensive jeans because as she puts it, 'there are 20 people living in our area that are homeless'. But on other hand, she buys furniture form dead peoples estates, knowingly ripping off survivors so she can resell the furniture at huge markups at her store. She passes out 20s to street people but refuses to enjoy the good things in her life because of ills of others. The guilt builds up and has effects on daughter and husband as we see in this charming film.

Oliver Platt and Amanda Peet are very well cast as husband and neigberhood bitch/vixen. The grandma is hilarious and has all earmarks of all the grandmas we know who are at point in thier life where they say whats on thier mind regardless of social ramifications.

Its basically a very cool character study of the moral pulls when someone compassion and real life collide.
