He's also hurt and needs the rest. Way better? Do you smoke crack? Swisher's batting average is currently 15 points higher .307 to .292. Youkilis has three more homers and a whopping 7 more RBI. Nobody's numbers are way better. They've both committed only two errors and play different positions anyway so comparing their defense is a moot point. One thing for sure is neither of them is winning a gold glove. No one wants an ugly prick in the All Star Game. Swisher's way cooler, has a hotter girlfriend, and plays for the better team. And Youks average has dropped over the course of the last few weeks as he is playing through injuries. Youkilis is GG calibur at 3B and 1B. Plus, with the Sox luck with injuries, Big Papi would trip on the stairs breaking his ankle and fall onto Youk and Pedroia causing serious internal injuries.
