SouthernJet
'The Sorcerer's Apprentice'' is a Harry Potter wannabe type genre flick that plods along like a Budwesier Clydesdale. Oh, it has the the big budget mainstream formula that keeps you interested, but it never quite grabs you and brings you to a place that good movies do. Special effects are cool, storyline is potentially cool, but for some reason its just too predictable and boring ion 2nd half. Plot is Nic Cage is Merlins apprentice, he is looking for the great chosen one, old friends gone bad from from back 1000 years ago chase Cage etc etc etc. You get it. Its diverting enough to keep you entertained, but it is not on a par with other special effect, wizardly type flicks of past. Its Potter-lite. . I actually liked Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief better. 2's
