I agree with him 100%. Other people are calling him a diva, but I did the exact same thing when I was a freshman in high school. All it is meant to do is demean and embarrass you, and by looking at Bryant's comments, it shows he means business.

Good for Dez. There are two kinds of hazing, as I see it, and only one is really productive.

Carrying everyones pads is not the right kind of hazing. Theres nothing productive to it. Things like buying all the receivers dinner is a positive hazing, because it does something beneficial-- building chemistry, etc. If you are going to make a rookie do something, make it something that has purpose, not something that he has to do just cause everyone else did.

It shows he wants to be one of the guys. A TEAM mate. The guy's showing he's a diva already. Good luck Cowboys.

So he's a diva because he refuses to do something that is not in his contract? I mean seriously, if you've ever actually been on a high school or college team, you know that hazing "rookies" is just to embarrass and demean them. I didn't put up with that crap either when I was a freshman. Finally someone is saying enough is enough, let's just play football. All this news tells me is that Dez means business.

It seems like some pretty harmless hazing.

The only problem I have with someone asking him to carry his pads was that it was Roy Williams doing it. Seriously, he's the one that needs to be carrying someone elses' pads because he's been such a *****, he hasn't earned it IMO.

Oh please. If he doesnt want to do it he doesnt want to do it. A bunch of spoiled millionaires playing pranks and harassing each other like over grown teenagers. i dont blame him for not wanting to carry that bums pads. These NFL players need to grow up and act like the pros they are.

If Miles Austin or Jason Witten asked him to carry their pads and he refused, I would see this a lot differently.

However, Roy Williams is a ****ing douche that can't carry Dez's jock. I view this as less about hazing and more about Roy Williams trying to put Dez Bryant in a subservient role. He's there to take your job, because you are waste of time, money, and oxygen. He's not there to be your whipping boy.

No offense, but this isn't high school. You do what they ask you to do and swallow your pride. If they ask you to go out to the parking lot and wash everyone's car, you do it.

And how much money were you making IN HIGH SCHOOL? Exactly, not the same thing all.

All this news tells me is that Dez is a humorless asshead who already takes himself way too seriously. Did Deion Sanders tell him not to carry shoulder pads? Has he sought out Deion's sage-like wisdom on this? Or did he do this on the adivce of his whore mother?

Funny, from Yahoo Sports..Duct Tape City coming...:rl:

Dez Bryant refuses the chores of a lowly rookie

By MJD

Veteran wide receiver Roy Williams was expected to clash with rookie Dez Bryant(notes) in competition for playing time at Dallas Cowboys training camp. I guess they're going to be clashing over some other stuff, too.

It's tradition at training camps for vets to make the rookies carry their pads after practice. Things like that have been going on as long as the NFL has existed. Rookies carry pads. Rookies get donuts. Rookies sing their school fight songs in front of everyone. Rookies are in the back of the line for everything.

After practice yesterday, though, Williams attempted to give Bryant his pads, but Bryant wasn't having it. He let Williams know he could carry his own pads. From Tim McMahon at ESPNDallas.com:

"I'm not doing it," Bryant said. "I feel like I was drafted to play football, not carry another player's pads."

"If I was a free agent, it would still be the same thing. I just feel like I'm here to play football. I'm here to try to help win a championship, not carry someone's pads. I'm saying that out of no disrespect to [anyone]."

Yeah, I think you're going to want to carry those pads, young man. You can tote some pads now, or be duct-taped to a field goal post later.

Every player on that team went through something unpleasant their rookie year, and if you think they're going to let you skate by because you made a few plays in college, I think you're probably wrong.

I'm not saying what the veterans do is right -- hazing should have his limits. But what exactly is your plan, Dez, to take on the entire institution of rookie hazing in the NFL? I don't think that's going to work out well for anyone.

You're probably way better off just carrying some pads and buying some ridiculous meals. I don't want this to end with you in a burlap bag in Jason Witten's(notes) trunk.

BOO F'ING HOO !!! Everyone in every sport goes through some sort of hazing as a rookie. Just do it and STFU you mook...no-one will care any less about you.In fact it will probably help with the fans

Kids these days, Al! They know nothing about tradition, respect, gamesmanship. This is why the world is going down the toilet.
