NY Post: Show Revis the Money

Let's split the difference. Say $11M/year for six years replacing the current contract. Guaranteed for skill. Plus enough to cover the injury guarantee.

Does anyone think that would be an insulting offer given all of the actual conditions (3 years remaining, CBA uncertainty)? If the Jets offered that and Revis said no (not saying it happened but hypothetically), does Revis still get any support from the fans?

Anante's contract is 6 years and $57.14M

Dunta Robinson's contract is also 6 years and $57M ... $25.5M guaranteed (44%).

That is an average per year salary of $9.5M on both deals (Dunta's has more guaranteed money though).

So if he Jets give Revis 6 years and $66M ($11M avg) with $33M guaranteed (50%), he should accept in my opinion.

The problem is the Aso contract. The Raiders offered him a contract with the same amount of money in it he would have gotten from being franchised for the next 3 years. Offering that much money and with the same guarantees that franchise tag money has showed Aso that the Raiders were willing to franchise him for the next three years, they weren't afraid of the salary numbers involved.

Truth is we all know Aso wanted out of that insane asylum and franchizing him every year was the only way aldavis could keep him. So they offered him franchise money in contract form. If you franchise in consecutive years you have to give huge increases each year and Aso's contract is what he would have gotten if he was franchized for 3 years on top of already being franchized the year before. So he's getting paid what comes out to being franchized an unpredecented 4 years in a row.

Why did aldavis offer him this? To avoid the humiliation of having to franchise him so many times. To have the franchise tag available for other players. Point being Aso's contract is one of the strangest in league history. If Revis wants to use this as a starting point for negotiations then trade him for picks in a Hershel Walker type trade. That trade made Dallas into a dynasty.

According to Jets Confidential Revis turned down a 10 year, $150 million deal with $50 million guaranteed (and Leberfield reports this was from a player in the Jets locker room).

Isn't the franchise tag salary a combination of the top 5 at that position?? If so how did it get to 15 million??
