Never tried it and never will, mainly due to personal issues with a member of my family.
Suspect we could share some of the same kinds of stories about certain relatives who either past or present speak about the wonders of weed, coupled with prolonged unemployment and paranoid bad attitudes, with side dishes of harder drugs and relationships and careers destroyed.Or never bothered to get a career at all.

Preface- the libertarian side of me thinks(operative word, is not the same as FEEL) that the war on drugs or what ever the eff it is is pretty pointless. Seen it up close in court from both sides, and it seems like a total waste of resources that would be better applied to treatment. If people had any idea how much police and court costs were for every arrest of some idiot with a nickel bag, they would be shocked and disguested. It's like a kabuki dance funded by taxpayers keeping the courts and police in business.

And if you are stupid enough to smoke or deal pot, I still have zero sympathy for you.

Oh, it's not physically addictive. But they smoke it every day, several times a day. Somehow using every day is now not atypical of addiction, which does violence to common sense. Apparenly pyschological addiction in this one instance is discounted.

Oh, it's not as bad as cigarettes for your body; it's a herb! Which is why stoners after a certain point all look like total sheet. If you smoke anything you are damaging your lungs. Ask Bob Marley how daily pot smoking worked out.

It's not a gateway drug, man. But the guy who sells it sooner or later sells harder stuff. And every hard drug user started with pot. Heck, most crackheads use the same pipe.

It's not as bad as booze. I like having a few beers. Readily admit it is not the healtiest habit. If I lost a job or career, or a house, or a family due to boozing, I would stop in a heartbeat. There are people that do. And I don't wake up every morning(or any morning) and immediately think, hey great time for a beer! But every stoner in my life (and in fairness until recently thank freaking God one of e'm came to his senses, if one day at a time) wakes up in the AM with the exact thought that before showering or coffee or crazy idea-WORK-time to get high! That argument boils down to arguing over which pathology is worse, which is like arguing getting hit by a train is a better way to go than to bleed out slowly.

I have known some people in their teens and 20s who occasionally used it and moved on, and sick people on chemo who used it to deal with nausea. If you are either, good luck to you. And then those people moved on.

But long-term older potheads are always junkies who become assh0les.

This is utterly ridiculous. You use yourself as an example for alcohol and then use a stoner as an example for smoking weed. Certain alcoholics that I know would drink 24/7 if it was possible. They are as bad as each other. With that being said, you could be doing a hell of a lot worse than them as well.

I'm not too much into either, and would only use them socially with friends. I have a lot of respect for people who can avoid drugs and alcohol completely. I know I sure as hell get through college without drinking.

GOLD!!! OMG. Thank you so much for this. Holy ****. This is awesome.

I'm sending this to every single person I know. This is legendary. No joke. I could see this evolving and becoming a very popular rant in the smoking community. You might have accidently landed into fame. You might want to run with this, it could turn profitable. Its that funny.

The humor of having conversations with and about a stoned relative that he is a sack of sheet who doesn't work. steals from his parents and his kids to get high, has cracked up another car or is losing his house to foreclosure and that his kids and wife hate him because his priority is chronic is kinda lost on me.

They don't call it "dope" for nothing.

I personally haven't seen or touched the stuff in over 25years. I'm sorry about your relative, and I'm sure you're more disappointed than you're letting on here. ...but have you considered that this person is happy to let you blame pot for his selfishness?

Several recent Presidents of every political persuasion have histories with pot. NFL players smoke pot. Ricky Williams may not be good for 1500 yards, but I'll hide behind a tree while you call him lazy.

Other notable lazyasses with pot history:

Sir Richard Branson

Michael Phelps

Michael Bloomberg

Montel Williams (has MS, considers it an effective treatment)

Ted Turner

But I'm not some big advocate either. I don't think it should be legal until police can test for it accurately at the scene of a crash.
