There’s Much Ado About A Do

HAIR TODAY: Quarterback Tom Brady’s long hair style has drawn a bit of grief along with comparisons to teen pop star Justin Bieber (right).

Tom Brady showed up for Patriots [team stats] training camp without his usual buzz cut to help handle the summer heat. Instead, the stylish quarterback let his hair grow, allowing it to flow out the back of his helmet.

Some have compared Brady’s much-discussed hairstyle to that of Canadian singing sensation Justin Bieber, a description the 16-year-old pop star fully supports.

“Nice haircut, Brady,” Bieber told the Herald in an e-mail message. “Dude’s got some golden locks. Haha!”

Hair stylists have comically wondered whether Bieber was Brady’s inspiration. In his first comments since he arrived at camp, Brady laughed off the assertion about his flowing bangs.

“No, no. Different look this year. Bill Belichick’s trying something new, I’m trying something new,” Brady said, referring to Belichick’s decision to wipe clean the Gillette Stadium walls of old pictures. “It’s a new year, got to try something different.”

Teammates giggled at questions about Brady’s hairstyle, not wanting to offend their quarterback.

“That’s a grown man over there, he can do what he wants,” receiver Brandon Tate said. “That’s on him.”

One Jets fan in particular got a kick out of the situation - Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun. He chimed in with his take.

“As a Jets fan, I kind of enjoy the idea of Brady walking into his barber shop and saying, ‘Let me get the Bieber,’ ” Braun wrote in an e-mail. “So classic.”
