Report: Favre Tells Vikings he WILL NOT Return

Too many fans take things like press conferences and retirement announcements WAY too seriously, lol.

If Favre feels he can come back, he'll come back despite white he said previously. If he feels he can't go all out, he'll retire.

And he won't be the first athlete to hold out to miss the worst part of training camp, the early part. Pitchers in baseball used to do it all the time.

Yeah, right. It's only August 3rd. He just wants to avoid training camp.

He'll change his mind in about 3 weeks.

of course

he intentionally scheduled the surgery a month late to avoid mini camps, now he needs an excuse to miss TC

oh, and he'll squeeze an extra million outta them this way as well

no way he's retired, no way

Report: Family source says Favre has made no decision

Posted by Mike Florio on August 3, 2010 4:45 PM ET

No development regarding the career of Brett Favre is official until the official Favre family scrivener, Al Jones of the Biloxi Sun-Herald, chimes in.

Jones reports, citing an unnamed family source, that no decision has been made by Favre regarding whether he'll retire for the third annual year.

"Brett has not made a commitment to play or a decision to return at this point," the source said.

So what in the hell is going on here?

Since Favre himself has remained silent, and since we believe the reports that he has advised team officials and teammates that he's retiring, this whole thing could be a power play aimed at getting more money for Favre or, more likely, getting the team off his a$$ about showing up for the third preseason game.

Indeed, we've got a feeling that the organization had been pressuring him to show up for the preseason home opener, and that Favre finally decided to make it known that he simply won't show up at all. By never acknowledging it himself, he'll never look like he was lying.

And so the end result will be more money for Favre and the ability to show up on the Friday before the first game, giving him six days to prepare to face the Saints on September 9.

This is it.

Maybe the truth is that sex with his wife is just that awesome and he can't stand to be away.

A "family source" tells the Biloxi (MS) Sun Herald that Brett Favre has not decided whether to play football in 2010.

The report comes from the Herald's Al Jones, who often breaks the most crucial Favre news. "Brett has not made a commitment to play or a decision to return at this point," said the source, presumably a close family member. Meanwhile, rumors continue to circulate that Favre is making a power play for more money. Favre's former Packers teammate LeRoy Butler told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that he recently heard Favre wanted a new three-year contract from the Vikings worth $13M annually. If Butler's story is true, Favre not only wants to play in 2010. He wants to play in 2011 and 2012, too.

Don't have a link, took it from another board, but it's interesting to say the least.

Favre will be back with the Vikes for the second or third Exhibition Game!

The NFL channel had in their running ticker, that Favre told Mariucci that he didn't tell anyone in the Vikes org. he was retiring. His wife renewed her gym membership in Minni for another year as well.

He doesn't want to play in 2011 and 2012. He wants a contract for those years and the ability to continue his annual circus for another couple of years. Cough. Cough. Douchebag. Cough. Cough.

He basically said his Vikings team mates lied about receiving text messages from him about his retirement.

The guy waits one full day, after Sportscenter Specials to announce it was a crock? What a douche!

Report: Vikings offer Favre $16 million plus incentives

Posted by Mike Florio on August 4, 2010 12:10 AM ET

Currently, Vikings quarterback Brett Favre is due to earn a base salary of $13 million in 2010. In an effort to persuade him not to retire, the Vikings are willing to bump the number to $16 million, and then some.

Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that the Vikings have offered a $3 million raise to Favre, along with incentives that if met would push the total even higher.

We still think Favre also will hold out for the ability to show up a week or so before the regular-season opener. And giving coach Brad Childress an atomic wedgie on national television probably remains a deal breaker for Brett.

Vikings are a bunch of whores.
