Troy Brown: Jets at fault for Revis 'blunder'

August, 3, 2010 Aug 312:17PM ETEmail Print Comments11 By Tim GrahamNew England Patriots fan favorite Troy Brown was a guest on "Mike & Mike in the Morning" and spoke about a variety of NFL issues.

Brown gave a glimpse into what Bill Belichick's conditioning tests were like, discussed Belichick's decision to whitewash history from the Patriots' facility and shared his thoughts on New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis' holdout.

"I really can't blame him," Brown said of Revis. "You asked him to go out there last year and guard Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, all these guys in your division, one on one with no help. It's really not his fault.

"You should really blame the Jets for this blunder because you ask this guy to do this all year. Now you don't have a contract for him, a solution to keep him on your football team and keep him happy this year. It's really their fault and not his."

How dare the Jets ask Revis to do his job well and then offer to pay him more!!! What insensitive pricks they are!

Blasphemy!!! If Troy Brown says it, it's the gospel truth! ;) <- plus, find me a player - current or not - that would NOT side with the player....now THAT is retarded.

I agree with Matt...this is mostly players siding with players nothing more.

This is not a NEP player going after the Jets, its a player sticking up for another player.

I happen to disagree with Troy. I think the Jets have handled the situation fine and MEvi$ is being greedy. What I find hilarious is Klecko has been siding with Revis and not the Jets, but once a former Patriot says the same thing he has been saying, decides to take the Jets side instead.

So true. Objectivity is not his friend.

How can anyone - ANYONE - say something negative about Troy Brown? It's not human. Troy Brown is football awesomeness.

Troy Brown wishes he could get one tenth of the money Revis will end up getting. He will have to settle for Garb's love.

No worries. He did well for himself and invested his money well. His wife is a scientist for NASA. Don't cry for Brown - well, maybe a little. He bought Narragansett Beer Company and from what I hear, that beers tastes like sh*t.

Actually, I haven't been siding with anyone.

I think both parties screwed this up.

I don't think the Jets should have approached Revis about re-doing his deal following the season. One can only assume Tanny thought a new CBA was imminent. The only other reason for doing so was them assuming he was going to hold out anyway and trying to be proactive to prevent it from happening.

I think Revis is being an unreasonable prick at this point and is only hurting himself longterm the longer he holds out. If this goes past the 10th I don't think we'll see him at all this year.

Does Troy know that Revis has 3 years left on his contract and that he did the same thing before he even step foot on the an NFL field.

The NFL has pissed me off this lately, with the mega deals and Sam Bradford making more money than Manning and Brady to pusswah's like Mevi$ holding out. Its really all ****ed up right now and something has to give.

I can never say a bad word about my favorite all-time player - ever - and I suspect most, if not all, players (current and former) will always side with the player no matter what.

I partially agree with Spicoli here (again- Blasphamy!) Honestly, I have become slightly disenchanted with sports altogether. I go to Gilette - pay max ticket price and another $40 to park - that's basically Bob Kraft saying "f-u" to me. I see players holding out on a contract that has years of service left on it - the player is basically saying "f-u" to me. They can say all the right things - ownership, players, league - and most do. I'm no fool. For the majority of 'em, it's about the money. It's not about the fans. It's about maximizing earnings. Glory is great. Money is better. That should be their motto.

Troy doesn't care. Its a player thing. Has a single Jets player condemned MEvi$? Or has everyone of them either said nothing or supported him? Why aren't their threads calling the Jets players who side with him over the Jets, calling them retarded as well? If you ask 100 NFL players 100 of them are gonna take Revis's side. Ask Brady about Revis he is gonna take Revis side. Ask Kraft about Revis and he is gonna support Woody.

The guy has arguably the greatest single season a DB has ever had and is told to play out his contract.

Meanwhile, he watches his head coach tear up his contract and sign a lucrative extension after just one year on the job. A year in which they won neither the Super Bowl, the AFC Championship, nor a division title. Zero titles and a mediocre 11-8 record for a first time head coach somehow warrants a new contract but becoming the consensus "best CB in the league" gets you nothing. Call me crazy but something seems a bit jaded by this picture.

Hold out Revis.....Make them pay you your money. Don't let them treat you like a b!tch.

Ryan's contract did not get torn up. He got 2 more years added to the end.

I bet to Woody Johnson's thinking he figured that waiting until after Rex won da supa bo would only increase the amount of money he would have to be paid and so he prolly thinks he's saving money by extending Rex now.

So basically he's arguing that no coaching staff should ask their players to go up against the opposing team's best players unless they plan on paying them more than their existing contract. Troy Brown isn't mentally retarded, he's a ******* genius.

Finally. Somebody here gets it.

I plan on pulling the very same move next time I'm asked to do someone else's job around here...

I'd respond to the stupidity of this post, but unfortunately I'm currently holding out for more money. Blame Max, not me, he should have had a new contract ready.
