'The Girl who Played with Fire' is the 2nd in the 3 part Millenium Trilogy book series written by Karl Stig-Erland Larsson and adapted to film. The 1st, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has become a cult classic and we are now treated to Part2.

The main cast is intact with Noomi Rapace, and Michael Nyqvist returning as hacker/sleuth Lisbeth Salander and Millenium Magazines main journalist Mikael Blomkvist.

The action this time takes place during the Swedish summer as opposed to Part1's bleak winter backdrop. Lisbeth has dropped out of sight and is living in the Caribbean. Michael's Millenium magazine is ready to publish a expose on a Sex trafficking ring that involves police, judges, politicians and other big shots in Swedish society. The day before publishing two reporters are slain and evidence points to Lisbeth Salander. The film proceeds from here with Lisbeth and Michael trying to solve the murders independently. Mixed in the intrigue is new details about Lisbeths past and we learn more of what has befallen this woman to meld the societal misfit we see today.

Its not quite the film Tattoo was , but it retains its gritty edgy style. Fans of Part1 will enjoy.

WARNING: Do not see Part2 without 1st renting Dragon Tattoo. You will be not pick up on the many references made to the 1st film.

Part 3 , 'The Girl who Kicked the Hornets Nest' will be released in the US in October this year.

As many of you have read, Dragon tattoo, is being made by David Fincher in Hollywood and Daniel Craig has signed on for all three parts. No actress has been signed to play Lisbeth yet.

And in even newer news, the estate of Larsson now claims to have the detailed outline he made for Part4 before he died. It appears they are going to hire a Mystery writer to finish the Part4 book based on outline and 'in the spirit' as the other 3 novels. The 4th part will be a book and Hollywood movie. Sweden is not interested on making Part 4.

I enjoyed the second movie. Can't wait for the third. Hollywood is probably going to ruin it. THat's just what they do. Americans need to stop being lazy and just read during the movies. No one they get for the Hollywood version can touch the Swedish Lisbeth.

Reading during movies is highly annoying at times. I did find the English dub version online though :D

I consider myself somewhat experienced on this topic.

Here is the thing with subtitles.

In the theater, where the text is HUGE, its very easy to read and you forget about it quickly.

At home, on a much smaller screen (even a 50 / 60 inch HD) its harder to absorb and read quickly with the smaller type.

So, never let the subtitles bother you in theater, cause you wont notice after 5-10 minutes.

At home, I have a 52 inch HD, I find it annoying at times to read quick enough.

DLJ, do yourself a favor and go to Played with Fire in theater. You will enjoy.
