SouthernJet
'Mademoiselle Chambon' is a French Indie that is currently at Art Houses. It is a gently filmed romance story that brings a certain flow that only the French seem to ba able to portray on screen. Its not over the top, not in your face, but very subtle. The plot is a married man visits his sons single teacher to get extra help for the child. In the ensuing visits he develops a bond with the teacher. This leads to him helping her fix a door (he is a house builder) in her house and some music interests (she is a semi-accomplished violinist and he is a novice music lover). All the while, there is no physical action, but a mental bond strengthens that shows up the yare struggling with the ramifications of what the 'next step' may have on the wife and son and life in general. I wont divulge more other than top say its a morality play of how much one is willing to give up to go after what one wants in the present. A wonderful film for those who enjoy the French Romantic genre. 3 1/2's
