I'm sorry Jimmy. It's hard in that bar business nowadays. With that DWI threat. My family had banquet houses and clubs. not anymore just tuff.

but dude, you and your family got mad talent. Serious. You find some place to share your gift. your like extra gravy on meatballs when it comes to music. I like that stuff man. Keep your head up bro. Crusher approves. Come up here to Northern Va, outside DC, people still go out. I go out and listen to music every thursday, drink whiskey, eat appetizers and juggle my wifes boobs, I like boobs Jimmy. I like your music too.

Thats what I think. To be honest, Im pretty good at knowing stuff like that.

Lots of bars for you to display your talents -- Good Luck

FWIW my buddy in Atlants lost his job doing satelite stuff for NASA -- Thanx to a certain someone cutting back on the space program

he is 50 years old and having a tough time of it -- but he will make the Fins game in 3 weeks because his buddies have no problem footing his bill.

all the best to you Jimmy

thanks bro-I'm reeling and hurting a little bit here today-I busted my a$$ at my job and tried to do the best I could but I'll tell you the reviews on the food and the service there were (and still are online) atrocious-if I owned a place I know I would heed what my customers were saying...

Sorry to hear about that Jimmy. you have to be pretty well known in the area. I'm sure you'll get a better gig real soon buddy. hang in there.

thanks Jim-now the thing about it is I knew deep inside that Saturday was going to be Nicole's last night. I couldn't sleep all Friday because of it, but co-workers who I messaged on facebook said no, don't worry about it.

Anyway it sort of maybe confirms my pschic vision prediction about seeing Revis suited up for the Baltimore game that I had a few weeks ago...maybe I'm tuned in to some other level at this time in my life

Just saw the news in the football forum and came here to confirm. Damn bro, that sucks. Are there other restaurant/bar scenario's in the area that you could talk with? You've got to have a good following you can barter with Jim, you're a gifted entertainer and great guy. I'd suggest taking the band you play with and booking clubs, but thats stuff for younger guys than us to do for a living. When we play out at a bar/club on a weekend night - my head usually doesn't hit the pillow till 4am and that doesn't make for much of a next day anymore.

Plus, I've yet to meet a booking agent(at the club level) that wasn't a scumbag and crook and those types control a lot of that business. Something will absolutely work out bro. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and doing the right things and it will all be good.

Most importantly, remember Coach Westhoff's story about the devil and discouragement - it's the absolute truth.

thanks John-I'm of the mind that sometimes when things like this happen that it's God's way of kind of kicking us upstairs to something better.

thank you Doug and Chan for your kind words too

That's a good attitude. This economy is miserable, everywhere I turn people are losing their jobs and unable to find suitable replacements they choose to stay on unemployment rather then take a lower paying job. This country is in bad shape..

Sorry to hear that SFJ, you'll find your spot and start new memories.

I see this every day. People we talk to during negotiations of their rate, if they make less than unemployment, they dont go for the job.

If I'm not mistaken, its illegal too...but whatever, things need to change.

it's amazing how few people even seem to understand how it works. My brothers girlfriend has worked the last 4 years straight and somehow she thinks she's paid her way for 18 months worth of unemployment/health insurance subsidies..

Turning Stone is not far from here. I've gone a few times. Saw George Carlin there. What group does your dad play with?

Jimmy, I'm betting you land just fine. You're a talented guy.

Yep, you called it way back. No doubt about it.

Tell me, is the scoreboard coming into focus at the conclusion of the Pats vs Jets game?

So I picked up my first post-Nicole's gig this Saturday night-working on a few other places. I used to be really good at booking myself all over town and thought I'd forgotten how to do it since I had a steady gig for the past almost decade-it's like riding a bike

Great to see you're getting new gigs.

Did the place have regulars - do you know where they'll go?

Still hard to fathom how a bar could close in Florida.

Yea they usually have bands on the weekends Jer but I guess a band must have cancelled on them. As for places closing down here-the economy down here is almost as bad as it is in Michigan-especially on this side of Florida-there are empty houses everywhere. times are really tough right now in the Sunshine State-worst that I've ever seen it for so long

So after losing my gig the phone started ringing and I'm back to work already with all kinds of offers-I worked last night at this beautiful bar in Wellington, I'm in West Palm tonight and Lake Worth tomorrow night-I also had to turn one place down and will find out if last night's gig will be 3 nights a week. Wow-a little self confidence a little prayer...and no resentments goes a long way
