Glad Revis isback, but temper your expectations of him this year...

Not because he's going to be rusty, but you have to remember that Revis had a legendary, all world season last year. It very well may have been the best single season a CB has ever had. To expect him to replicate that is unrealistic. You also have to consider that Revis is going to have alot more balls thrown his way this season. Opponents are going to have to weigh the prospects of throwing to their best receiver vs Revis, or their 2nd best receiver vs a very solid Cromartie as well. When Lowery or Shepperd are on the other side of the field, it's a no brainer to not throw towards Revis. With Cromartie there, opponents are going to have to take their chances and hope their best receiver can make some plays. While Revis will still be the best or among the best CB's for the season IMO, he is going to give up some plays as well. I think as fans we should not be so quick to jump to the conclusion that he "got his money" and doesn't care anymore if/when he gives up some plays.

Revis had I believe the 2nd or 3rd most balls thrown his way in the NFL last year. If anything, Id expect the additions of Cro and Wilson will get less balls thrown Revis's way because Rex now has the ability to rotate coverages to Cro and Wilson...

nope

he made his bed now he gets to lie in it

he wants to be paid like the rest, he has to play like the best

no excuses

Not making excuses, I expect him to be among the best, if not the best. But the reason I didn't think he should be paid for the performance he gave last season is because he is likely never going to do that again. He's gonna give up a few big plays, just as all the best do.

I'm not going to argue since I don't know the answer or not, but I will say I find that very hard to believe.

So did I until somebody showed me the stat. I was making a similar argument as you last year claiming that we didn't need to upgrade Lito because he probably got picked on more than any other #2 since we had Revis... Turns out, Revis was thrown to about 5 times the amount that the #2 was last season.

I welcome them throwing to Revis. Last year it got to the point that I hoped they threw to him because I knew he'd either pick it or it would be a wasted down.

As did Rex... Which is why he always was rotating his coverage's toward Revis and baiting the QB to throw in his direction. Now with Cro and Wilson on the roster, Rex can mix up his secondary schemes and roll coverages to Cro or Wilson... Or he can leave all three of them on an island... Rex now has a lot more freedom to play around with this defense. Should make for a fun year, at least on that side of the ball.

Rex's whole defense was designed to funnel balls towrds revis. I don't know the exact number, but he was targetted a TON

That's 100% true.

Revis gets a ton of balls thrown at him because we use him as a shadow to the opposing team's #1 receiver. It's not like in Oakland, where no one ever throws at Nnamdi, because they Raiders run a scheme that keeps him on one side of the field. They just move their top receiver to the other side.

I could possibly see his targets decrease this year, just because there isn't the same parade of elite receivers coming his way. Last year, he went against Moss (twice), Owens (twice), Wayne (twice), Chad Johnson (twice), Vincent Jackson, Andre Johnson, Steve Smith South, Colston, and Roddy White. But, he's still going to be heavily targeted, with Boldin, Moss (x2), Marshall (x2), Harvin, Jennings, Megatron, Andre, Chad, and Hines Ward on the schedule.

If we were idiots and shaded him, then he'd probably never get thrown at.
