Enjoy these are the best of times! Tonight is our home towns first football game. My son a graduated last year was a 4 year starter this is his first year on the sidelines since pop warner and he is bummed out. Enjoy the times they go by fast. Hes playing baseball at a Jr.college trying to mature and get grades up. Then we move on is the plan.

Wish your son good luck and a safe game Max.

Thanks guys. It was a LOT of fun. They actually lost on a last second TD. They were winning most of the 2nd half, this is a team that has won one game in four years. They were bummed beyond belief because they had it.

I was amazed at how many people were there. This was about 45 minutes away and the visiting bleachers were filled. Really good coaches, really good kids, it is going to be a lot of fun to watch.

What position does he play, and what cleats did you end up getting?

He is starting at left guard and I believe we ended up getting mid tops. He asked me for high tops recently but I did the normal Dad thing and ignored his request. I asked him before this game if he still wanted them and he said he is okay with the ones he has for practices and games.

He has a JV game on Monday and I think he will play center and also DL...so we will see if he requests anything after that.

I watched a video recently where a high school coach was telling the kids to savor every moment of that feeling. He was explaining how great it is for them...

I agree about the memories...

Yeah, I played LG for 3 years. I'm at RG and DT currently.

I went to my first High School game in many, many years. My old high school - well, it's a new one...just the same name. Anyway, my nephew made the varsity team in his sophomore year. He made the starting line-up. Defensive tackle and punt/ko coverage. Personally, I think his starting a d-tackle is effed up. My nephew is almost 6' and weights 156 pounds. I saw him line-up in the nose position a few times. I watched him take on a kid that probably had 75 pounds on him. I am proud to say he held his own. He got thrown a few times too. Anyway, three total tackles for the skinny kid. Not that I want to tell teh HC what to do - but my nephew has some speed, he's strong, likes to hit and is 6' 156lbs. Defensive end? MLB maybe? But D-tackle? Nose? Whaaa???

I hear yah though, Max. There is a different feel to high school football. Genuine fun.

Mods keep this girl in line would ya.

Garb -- that does seem weird. Not sure why he would be at DT. Sounds perfect for DE.

Do any of you have kids that are kickers?

I think I'd like to groom my kids for that early, because no team in our area can get an extra point. Every game is a multiple of 6. (you can forget field goals)

No clue where/how to teach them proper technique though.
