Wilson and Leonhard

Just saw a preview clip on SNY about Kyle Wilson and it was 3 plays from last week's game in succession... one after another after another. In all 3 clips, Wilson is somewhat tight on his receiver but doesn't have good awareness as to where or when the ball is coming, so he missed all 3 tackles... and in each and every play Jim Leonhard gets there a half second later and makes the tackle. It's so funny, it's like the same damn play three times in a row. I don't know why, it just amused me...

That pass interference call in the endzone was a bs call. He had good position, was looking for the ball, and the contact was incidental. The refs were terrible the whole night.

Agreed, but if you know this wouldnt you change your coverage technique if you knew you would get flagged everytime. Wilson had no idea what was going on out there. He looked terrible. This isnt Boise State or Piscataway high school this is the NFL. Lets hope he plays alot better on Sunday.

I thought his coverage was good as well.

He just needs to turn his head and pick up the football and keep his hands off the receiver.

Good first game for a rookie CB.

Completely agree. He's got the hard part down already. He was locked onto his man's hip the entire game, it was just a matter of ball awareness, and that's a lot easier to learn and improve upon. Consider the kid also got absolutely no safety help in his first NFL game drawing man coverage against the likes of Boldin and Heap. While the penalties need to be cut down, even they can be somewhat attributed to a tight game being called, it's just more a matter of knowing when you can or can't get away with it. Let's be honest, Revis is the master of that. He certainly stretches the rules on more than his fair share of occasions, but he knows exactly what he can and can't get away with, and that's all that really matters.

All in all I thought Wilson did okay for his first game. All things considered...

He was overmatched and on one of the most physical receivers in the league. He was always right there, but just got out fought going for the ball. I'm optimistic about him on welker..

Sounds to me that once Wilson becomes a veteran he's going to be a problem because the raw talent to cover is obviously there.

Exactly. Most of those penalty calls were bullsh*t. Meaningless hand fighting is usually not called especially when the offensive player is doing it just as much if not more . If that crew was not calling that game I think we shut them out. Maybe a field goal. Still no excuse considering the offensive game plan could have been developed better by a High School coach.

Hes going to have to play Physical within 5 yards to stop Welker and it already seems the Refs hate us as much as everyone else.
