lancemehl
I don't know, but I thought this was a sports, as in sportsmanship, and it's pro sports. Free Agency is a part of that. It's ridiculous to hate a player because of what team he used to play for, in fact, that's part of the fun---crossovers. Like Bryan Cox, who hated the Jets and then kicked a$$ for us. These Fins we get have that Patriot-Bill hatred we need too. It's also silly to bring people's personal lives into it. How many assholes have played professional sports? Ty Cobb, Eddie Murray, Reggie Jackson, Steve Garvey, Gastineau, TO, Manny Ramirez, Roger Clemens, Jeff George, Flutie was a prick they said, LT was...huh, Gooden, Strawberry....whatever. I'm just rattling off the top of my head. The point is these guys contributed on the field. What Yankee fan is saying, "I don't count the 77 -78 world series becaue Reggie Jackson was an a$$hole." That's crazy, and as far as assholes go, Jason Taylor is mild, I'd say. We've had all kinds of degenerates in pro sports. In the pros you leave all that off the field. It's all about between the lines, man. As I said, these guys who crossover only add a storyline. JT is a Jet, this year at least.

Ok. lol After the game the Jets played, it doesn't make a difference if everyone hates him, just seems a little unhealthy to me. Are gonna start rooting for guys that we think are OK guys to hang out with. We don't even REALLY know these dudes. Do we not root for Brunnell because he made 57 million dollars in his career and he filed for chapter 7? lol It's all good though. He's getting his super bowl ring this year! haha

AFJF
I hate the guy. I suppose that over time I could hate him less. I just don't get how people can say "I hate this guy" one day, then "I love him" the next. To me, that's like coming out and saying "everything I say is completely shallow, empty and meaningless. Change your shirt and I'll change my mind" See, I don't just hate Jason Taylor the player, I hate Jason Taylor the person. The same way I hate Michael Vick and Darrelle Revis. Some people are big enough pieces of $h!t that I can't bring myself to root for them. Now, when players I hate, plays for a team that I love, the team trumps the player. I will still root for my team and part of me will hate it when a POS does something that benefits the team, but at the end of the day I'm going to cheer because my team has done something positive. I'd never want the Jets to lose because JT and DR are on the team, but if I had it my way, they'd each get their asses handed to them every time they step on the field for the rest of their lives, but the Jets would win every single one of those games. I've said it before, you can hate a player and still love a team. IE..Yankees and A-Rod
sirlancemehlot
Stockholm syndrome. If u don't despise him, you've let him break your spirit and have begun to empathize with him. Jason Taylor absolutely hates the Jets, and hates you for being a Jets fan. He would rather have been signed by 31 other teams. These are documented facts stated openly by Mr. Taylor himself. He's also hella rich, drivng a fancy car that's so fast--he's only a half-hour late to meetings, and has jumped on the bandwagon to get himself a ring at best, a paycheck at worst, and some valuable Hard-Knocks facetime as an added perk. He can eat doody. Great sack though. And his big play against the Pats wasn't bad either.

It's all about between the lines, man. As I said, these guys who crossover only add a storyline. JT is a Jet, this year at least. Here's the difference: none of the guys you mentioned above, denigrated another team's fanbase and then went to play for that team. Its one thing for Tom Brady to be an moronic asshead and say he hates the Jets and New York even though he's a Yankee fan and lives in Manhattan. Its quite another when Jason Taylor said the following about us as fans: "a bunch of them chanting their dumb-a$$ chant and all that other stuff, being the ignorant fans they are." Steve Garvey never said "Padres fans are dipsh*ts" before he went to play for them. Roger Clemens never called Blue Jays fans "stupid f**king Canucks" before he signed with them as a free agent. TO never said Eagles fans are "cheesesteak-sucking faggots" before becoming an Eagle. Xerxes repeatedly denigrated us as a fanbase. He did it more than once. He did it many ways. That's a tough bell to unring.

flgreen
I hated Gastineau. To this day I wouldn’t walk across the street to piss on him if he was on fire. Once turned down his autograph, and asked him if he could get Klecko's for me On Sundays he was a Jet . I would cheer for him when he planted a QB. I could care less about who the players are if they are wearing Green and White. Hell, this team is full of turds right now

No, what you insinuated was that there was no good reason to single out Taylor as an object of fan hatred. You named several players whose situations are not relevant. Jets fans despise Taylor because of things he said about the Jets fanbase, not because he played for the Dolphins for all but 2 years of a HOF career. There are plenty of guys, who killed us while playing for division rivals for years, who Jets fans would be elated to get. Because for most of them it was all about football. Tom Brady comes out and says he hates the Jets, which I can respect. What he hasn't done, no matter how many smiles he's wiped off our faces on Sundays, is absolve the Jets players he goes up against as being a-ok and say he only hates the Jets fans. Jason Taylor is the one who made it personal and about the fans, and only about Jets fans at that. That is why he has drawn the ire of Jets fans and why it isn't the same as Steve Garvey being a lowlife or Bryan Cox who, among other things, flipped his bird at Buffalo's fans. Buffalo might have felt very different about acquiring Cox than did Jets fans.
