Jetfan13
Patriots coach Bill Belichick didn’t come out and say New York Jets defensive back Eric Smith should have been ejected for the head-hunting hit he put on wide receiver Wes Welker in Sunday’s game at the New Meadowlands according to Ian R. Rapoport of the Boston Herald. But Belichick didn’t leave any doubt about his feelings on the play early in the 28-14 loss. Whatever thoughts he had, Belichick told the officials in a lengthy discussion after Smith was flagged for the 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty. “We were just talking about the play, that’s all,” Belichick said. “How (the officials) saw it. We both saw the same thing. They threw a flag. Just, I don’t think that’s really what the league is looking for with those kind of plays. I can’t imagine that they are. We’ll see what they want to do about it.” A defender launching himself at a defenseless receiver was a point of emphasis this year for officials, and Smith did a textbook version. Welker returned to finish with six catches for 38 yards and a score, but he never looked comfortable. Asked if Smith should have been ejected, Belichick said, “That’s (the officials’) call, not mine.”
JetsFanInDenver
Well from the recordings i saw on TV it appeared a borderline call that went against the JETS. Welker sold it pretty well. Fell down like a soccer player would have. Missed all of one play and came right back. Now unless Belichick has tape that proves otherwise i would consider this matter closed! Matt39
When you try and embarrass an opponent by running up the score(Moss on Revis last season) you have to expect retaliation. Im not saying that it was intentional by Smith, but Belly needs to recognize that people will head hunt if you try and do bush league things. BP
Please mumbles, sour grapes and stfu! Rodney Harrison did cheap shots playing for you and you didnt complain..lol.. I have to say that since the video tapes have been taken away from him he has been exposed as a fraud. notice the Patriot 2nd half adjustments have been awful the past couple of years? hhhhmmm
AFJF
Beli has already proven himself of incapable of determining what the league wants Exactly what I was going to say. If he couldn't understand a letter that said "no recording of any kind. That includes audio, video, sketch artists, none of it in any way shape or form on the sidelines during a game" then he has no authority to speak as to what the league wants. Thats the first thing I thought of when I saw this thread. He hasnt won sh*t since that cheap scumbag left his team. And that hit was legal and he grazed him. Literally grazed him. Tom Brady gave him a harder head butt.

Integrity28
Isn't Smith the one who broke Boldins face 2 years ago? yep..another bs call, Bolden ducked low right into Smith..wonder who he takes out this week Actually it was Rhodes that pushed Boldin from behind into the oncoming hit from Smith. Kind of similar to how Pace pushed Eli from behind into the oncoming hit from Leonard. Its football... it happens. After the Boldin hit, Smith called him to apologize see how he was and Boldin told him never stop playing like that. Boldin knew it would have been a clean hit, and the injury was just the result of other incidental contact. Bellit!ts is just a sore ******* loser. Always has been. He's lucky they didn't enforce these rules back then because he'd be getting flagged a ton! It was a message and you know what?, it worked! Last time mighty mouse came over the middle. Hit approved!
