NIGHT STALKER
It seems he is being singled out when the league has others who have committed the same crime. As an example, Ronnie Brown of the Dolphins was arrested in Atlanta, Georgia for a DUI back in March...where was the outrage? Georgia law doesn't draw a difference between a DUI and a DWI. Georgia uses the terms DUI (driving under the influence) and DWI (driving while intoxicated) interchangeably, but the trend is shifting to exclusive use of DUI because that term encompasses drugs as well as alcohol. Either term means that the driver was operating a vehicle while impaired by some type of chemical. Blood alcohol content (BAC), tested by a breath, urine, or blood sample, will determine the penalties to be charged for an alcohol-related DUI offense. In Georgia, a BAC of 0.08% or higher automatically counts as a DUI. Note, however, that you can get a DUI with a BAC of lower than 0.08%. All the officer has to do is observe that your ability to drive is impaired, and on go the handcuffs. Also, while alcohol and illegal drugs are clearly grounds for a DUI, legitimately prescribed or over-the counter medications can also get you in trouble. If they affect your ability to drive―and a lot of them do―you could be arrested. Of course, it helps the state's case if the officer collects chemical evidence that your BAC was over 0.08%. To make it easier for the police to do this, Georgia (like most other states) has a law that punishes drivers who refuse to take a chemical test. So, let's bash all these players in sports that are arrested for this particular crime and not just Edwards because he happens to be on Ryan's Jets...you hear that Francesa?! slats
I don't listen to sports radio. Ever. I like music. I haven't bought a newspaper in years. I don't give a crap what these assholes have to say. Braylon fukked up. He's going to be punished accordingly by the State of NY and the NFL. The Jets are under no obligation to punish him further and -in fact- are barred from many forms of punishment under the CBA. What gets accomplished by sitting him for a game -with pay!- when the violation doesn't warrant a suspension? Other than hurting the team more, not a lot. If the coaches feel that the playing Edwards gives them the best chance to win this week, then they should play Edwards. Putting the team first, we hear a lot about that around here. Let the state and the league handle Braylon's disciplinary actions. And let Fat Mike and Gary Turtle rot.
Klecko73isGod
and Gary Myers is in the Daily News AGAIN this morning calling for BE to not be let off the bench for even one play Sunday. And these guys are our local beat writers? This one really pisses me off. Gary - the Giants have a perfectly legitimate FOOTBALL story for you to write about. Its about their prized free agent throwing the coaching staff under the bus and questioning the team's entire methodology for road games. Its juicy because it includes a disgruntled high profile player ripping his coaching staff and it also raises interesting football points that might lead to a column about how teams prepare differently for road games that might just inform and enlighten your readers to an aspect of football they are not familiar with. But why write that story? Because it doesn't grant you the ability to feign moral outrage like the Braylon Edwards story does. But lets examine that for a second shale we: You didn't express this moral outrage when Ronnie Brown was popped for a DUI a year ago. You didn't express it when Kareem Mackenzie was guilty of the same thing two years ago. Why now? Why does this particular incident bother you so much? Because you can write an "I told you so" column about the dangers of signing players of questionable character yet again. Well then lets examine the questionable character of the guys the Jets have been so ridiculously chastised for signing in the last 12 months: Braylon Edwards: Edwards was guilty of a bar fight when playing for Cleveland. The story behind this bar fight was that one of LeBron James lowlife hangers-on went out of his way to start a fight with a football player and got popped in the face. Wow, what a bad guy Braylon Edwards must be. Santonio Holmes: Santonio was traded away from the Steelers for PR purposes because they couldn't afford to keep two players of questionable moral fiber on their offense - so they traded away the pot smoker and kept the serial rapist. Newsflash: if you literally busted every player in the NFL who smokes pot, you might be able to field a punt return team. Now to be fair, Santonio has had some other scrapes but the worst thing he has done since joining the New York Jets is fall asleep with his headphones on on an airplane. Antonio Cromartie: The worst thing that can really be said of Antonio Cromartie is that he doesn't like using birth control and has terrible timing. So the presence of these three players is destroying the soul of the Jets franchise? Really? Are you kidding me? Go write about something important Gary. Go write about football. slowmoe57
I feel guilty for saying this but this team has never had this much media attention for a long time -- Favre era not included. and I am loving it good or bad. Ok Braylon was an idiot -- end of discussion. Rex has a big mouth -- so what. We are cocky and arrogant -- fine by me. If we were the Seahawks or the Buccaneers this would be a blip on the bottom of the ESPN ticker -- We are now the 2nd most hated team in football (Cowboys still have a grip on number 1). and I cant get enough of it - Best way to shut these mfers up is to win games. We are now relevent -- enjoy the ride and ignore the media

The Jets are affiliated with 1050 espn radio... his direct competition. And if he does hate the Jets, so what? Stop listening. I really dont care what he has to say about the Jets. If he never has anything good to say about the Jets, why do Jets fans listen? Oh... forgot to add it in my earlier posts... yes. Edwards should be treated the same as other athletes with similar issues. I dont disagree with you on that. I just dont have the expectation that it will actually happen. GREENBEAN
We are now relevent -- enjoy the ride and ignore the media I actually agree with you. Who cares about all this garbage? Let everyone hate us! I would rather be hated than completely irrelevant. I would rather not have guys getting arrested for DWI of course, but if he catches a couple TD's in Miami this wknd, I will enjoy everyone seething with hatred on why one of the Jets trouble making big mouths had a good game. I hope it's BE that is the main reason we win on Sunday night. Well him and Jayson Taylor of course. F*CK THE REST OF THE LEAGUE!!!! GO JETS!!!! SenorGato
I think it's even more annoying that Jets fans are just tossing Edwards out because of the incident. I don't give two sh*ts about what non-Jets fans say on this because mostly they're a bunch of haters anyway.

sh4dy15
Another thing I feel like people need to remember is the Jets organization is not the f**king morality police! They are a FOOTBALL TEAM, and a football team who's main concern whether you like it or not is winning! They need to do what is best for them to GET WINS. If they don't get wins people lose their jobs and lose money. This is a business not a choir group. To add to that, the fans arent morality police either! I think what he did was wrong but I'm a fan of this FOOTBALL TEAM not a fan of what they do any other time in their lives. We dont jump up cheering when Braylon goes to a chairty benefit, we do that when he scores a TD.

THE ILK
I love how these media clowns are screaming amd claiming the Jets have no integrity, when they have no integrity of their own. At least we have integrity28.
