SenorGato
After last week's best coordination performance ever, he goes out and tops it. Praise Schottenheimer, the great playcaller of the Mighty Jets! HuZZAH! HUZZAH! HUZZAH!
Larz
I was ready to fly down there and choke him after the 3 and out after brad smith return gave the jets the ball at midfield it was a nice recovery, but the jets got lucky I think with the dropped int, and the PI call but hey, I'll take it !!!!!! serphnx
I guess it's a good thing that Week 1 was so horrendous. Clearly the players had talent, as I was arguing the entire time, and Schitty was ******* it up. Now Schitty is finally calling games like an OC in the NFL, and he has now become Schotty. Except he's probably better than his old man already, since his old man was a terrible OC/play caller.
Sharrow
I wouldn't say he topped it. The NE game was almost perfect. It was still a pretty good game though even though there was still too much motion and trickery.

Week 1 is more like most OCs in the NFL...everyone hates their offensive coordinator except the fan bases who've had a good QB long enough to know that he doesn't even matter. Edit: Week 1 was like 8 years ago.

Cant stand that we dont throw the fade to BE more often, he loves that play and often its a penalty.

Bleedin Green
I said it before and I'll say it again, it was a good thing Schotty sucked as much as he did week one. Every year, he has a horrid game, gets ripped a new one by his head coach and then suddenly learns how to call plays. While it's still certainly not all great, it's better than it was. That said, this thread is still borderline retarded. Gato's recent posting ability is about on par with Schotty's week 1 play-calling.

He doesn't bother defending Mangini anymore so Schotty is now his wounded puppy in need of protection. Schotty is a smart guy who, at times, seems to lose any feel for the game. Then there are times he is spot on. Sanchez will ultimately make Schotty look like a good or bad OC.
SMC
I'm just glad he called "dropped INT" instead of "pick 6".. The beneficial thing now is those "dropped INT"s were in need of circus catches. The one overturned was clearly not a pick. The CB got 1 hand on it and tried to bring it in and the ball hit the ground. The refs sucked. The other to the DL needed him to be a juggler. Last yr Sanchez threw easy INTs. RutgersJetFan
So when the offense plays poorly it's on the players, and when the offense plays well, it's on the coordinator. Right. Got it. It's easy to be a genuis OC with a great QB, or a horrible OC with an awful one. QB is way more important then OC in terms of offensive success.. That being said, I'm not a big schotty fan either. I wanted Martz all off season, who is a legit top OC

Just what a F*ckin call...I told my friends that weren't there that THAT is how you call a f*ckin play. He does have his moments where he calls negative plays, but it's good to see him understanding how to move an offense now. D'you see that block he told LT to make that freed up B. Smith for 9 yards? Brian Schotten just gets it. Maybe he even has it. BTW: You dream of Mike Martz at OC...I dream of Josh McDaniels. If that guy doesn't win a Super Bowl or two in the next 40 years then something went wrong somewhere. Watch him turn Tim Tebow into a legit NFL QB in the next 3 years or so. I just think he's the best of the next gen offensive coaches...Pats offense hasn't really been the same since he left.

Then I'd suggest listening to what I say instead of watering/dumbing it down to "zomg he's sooooooo in loooooove with Schottenheimer." I make "excuses" because I live in reality, not black and white world. The Ravens beat us by one point and only because Keller went out of bounds on the last pass of the game. The Ravens dominating a QB for 4 quarters isn't exactly breaking news or cause for panic (except, apparently, for your average Jets fan). It's what they do. It's what they've done for over a f*cking decade. Get over Week 1. Please...for your own sakes...It's done.

Hooray. Norv Turner? Thank God there were some easy games for the suicide pool this week because that idiot knocked me out three years in a row. 455 yards and a loss to Seahawks. Thank God the Pats were home playing the Bills. Norv wasn't even tempting this week. +1 Gato is in full contrarian mode now, which is synonymous with EpicFAIL mode. It's sort of a built in excuse, but they deserve some slack and I think we will probably still see some random struggles and trouble against great Ds (Ravens, Steelers) and keeping up in real shootouts like NE, NO or the Colts. . I'm not sure there's a single person on this board who looks at things more black and white, at least certainly not on this topic. Your complete inability to understand or acknowledge the importance of coaching in the NFL has proven that time and again. The amazing part is how arrogant you manage to act even though you're wrong. Brian Schottenheimer himself admitted to how horrible he called the Ravens game, but that's not the case because um... you say so?
