Schotty tops himself.

I'm not sure there's a single person on this board who looks at things more black and white, at least certainly not on this topic

Seriously? Like...100% serious?

I don't get it...I really don't and I probably really won't. Not that I could possibly expect it, but please don't explain it to me.

Also, him blaming himself publically for the loss against the Ravens was the smart/right thing for him to do. He's playing politics...part of having a public position really. You guys really treated Week 1 as if he's the first OC to fail to pile points on the Ravens...again...that D has been ridiculous for a decade...what they did in Week 1 is what they've done for a long, long time in this league. Why we're even talking about week 1 anymore like anyone gives a damn is beyond me...

Edit: MMMMMMMMM look at those titties. That's a helluvan avatar. I can't stay angry...even if I found the idea that I'm the black and white one somewhat insulting.

You do realize, I hope, that the majority of teams that throw for 300 yards in a game, LOSE.

Stats alone are a really stupid way to judge a game.

I don't know where you got that from. Brees, Peyton, Rodgers, Brady and Ben all routinely throw for 300+ yards and they win the most in the NFL. Meanwhile JeMarcus Russell never throws for 300 yards and usually loses.

What is your source on 300 yard passing teams losing? I'd say that it's far more likely you lose if you have under 300 yards of offense than when you have above that just passing. It's not a perfect measure either way and the situation does matter, but for the most part I would prefer the 300 yard passers I listed above.

300 isn't usually necessary, I think TDs and a good YPA and YPC number are more important. Completion percentage is also an okay measure but as Pennington has shown it's not the end all. Sanchez barely had over 50% yesterday on his completions too.

This year, to date, teams are 5-10 with a 300 yard passer. That figure is somewhat diluted, because in 2 games, each qb went over 300 yards.

The data can probably be best explained by the fact that a lot of 300-yard passers ended up with that many yards by trying to play catch-up in a game where their team trailed.

ding,ding,ding.

Effect by cause.

As well, you can show why so many teams win with a 100 yard rusher, because they may have been ahead, and kept the ball on the ground to close the victory.

There are many different formulas that work in the NFL. and none may be better than the other. But you just can't throw at the plastic statement "we need to have a 300 yard passer" to arrive in the NFL. I can't tell you how many times O'Brien and Todd lost with 300 yard games. I remember one game where Todd fell just short of 500 yards---and lost.

And I'm not saying we need a 300-yard passer, I'm saying it would be nice to have one occasionally. As many bad QB's lose games after throwing 300 yards, there are some who engineer a powerhouse offense, have 300-yard games, and win a lot too, such as Peyton Manning or Drew Brees.

Yards per attempt would really be the most important stat there. If Sanchez were capable of getting to 300 yards by throwing 30-35 times, that would lead to a LOT of wins. If it took him 45-50 throws, that means he got there in garbage time when we were losing.

But you're using the same plastic statement, essentially implying when you hit 300 yards passing you lose a game.

How many 100 yard rushing games do the Colts, Pats and Saints have in the past few years vs. how many wins they have? What is the record for under 300 yard passing teams wins?

Why do you refuse to admit that the Colts, Pats and Saints routinely pass for 300 yards and win games?

Who f*ckin cares how many yards the QB throws for? Do you realize how unlikely it is that Sanchez never throws for 300 yards this year, or that Schotty never "develops" a 300 yard passer?

Once Holmes gets here you'll get your precious 300 yard game...What a lame knock that is...80, Rivers threw for 455 and lost...just sayin.

Edit: GD those titties.

I think we'll be an elite offense when we break the 56-game streak and start having some 300-yard games every once in a while. Not all the time, just every once in a while. Just sayin'.

I think we'll be an elite offense when we consistently put up points like an elite offense can and does. If that means some 300 yards I'm not going to cry...they're not the key...all that'll tell me is that we finally have a real life QB.
