flgreen
Bills LB Davis, DE Stroud Ruled Out Against Jets October 1, 2010 6:39 AM Print Share 0 (Photo by Al Bello/Getty Images) From ccolton ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — The Buffalo Bills will be without at least two defensive starters against the New York Jets this weekend after linebacker Andra Davis and defensive end Marcus Stroud were ruled out due to injuries. Without discussing the nature of the injuries, coach Chan Gailey delivered the news after both players missed practice on Thursday. Stroud hurt his left ankle in a 38-30 loss at New England last weekend, while Davis has an injured shoulder. Starting cornerback Terrence McGee’s status is also uncertain after he missed practice with what Gailey called a knee injury. It’s unclear when McGee was hurt, but Gailey said it’s related to an injury that bothered the player this offseason. “We’re still holding out hope,” Gailey said, referring to McGee. “We’ll see if he can make it tomorrow.” On the bright side, Gailey said linebacker Paul Posluszny is ready to return after missing the past two games with a sprained right knee. Posluszny’s return means he’ll take over the defensive play-calling duties from Davis. Akin Ayodele has been practicing as the other middle linebacker. Spencer Johnson is a likely candidate to replace Stroud. The Bills are deep at cornerback, with Leodis McKelvin expected to start if McGee can’t play. The defense has been a work in progress due to injuries, and has yet to have all 11 of its projected starters healthy after outside linebacker Reggie Torbor missed the season opener with a chest injury. Buffalo, which switched to a 3-4 scheme this offseason, has allowed a combined 72 points and 791 yards in its past two games, including a 34-7 loss at Green Bay on Sept. 19. The biggest concern is Buffalo’s run defense, which allowed 200 yards against the Patriots, and is facing a Jets team that had a combined 567 yards rushing in two games against Buffalo last season. “It’s a tough situation but, man, it’s just part of the deal,” Posluszny said. “It’s just something we’ve got to make the best of.” Copyright 2010 The Associated Press. slats
Jets just need to take care of business this week. Don't get complacent, lazy, stupid, etc. Just come to play. Good week to have Shonn Greene just follow the Terminator. Have to be aware of the Harvard man, too. Can't let him be Joe Montana back there. I hate games that are supposed to be easy wins.... Bleedin Green
Well if there was any question as to whether the Jets were going to just try to run the ball down the Bills' throats, that should be even more apparent now.

This is one of the weeks that it might be better to not have two defensive stars out there. In a weird twist it forces the Jets to be more on their toes where they might have gotten complacent WITH a Revis and Pace out there. The Jets are not taking this game lightly slats. I went over to the team's site and watched the press conferences of Mike Pettine, Rex, and Schottenheimer. They are all well aware of what Buffalo can do and what they HAVE done to the Jets. I say we win this game and we get a half dozen sacks on Fitzpatrick

I think you'll see that when they're back in the lineup. I can hear the Mevi$ crowd already... But you sorta got that feeling last year when Pace came back from his suspension. The coaches will adjust based on having those guys back, and there will be a couple hiccoughs while everyone gets back on the same page. Would've been nice to bring them back one at a time, in a game they should win.

Revis I don't expect back until the Denver game...hey whatever it takes to get him healthy-we'll need him most by the end of the month and November and December and hopefully January
SoFlaJets
JennyVrentas Revis (hamstring) and Pace (foot) are in uniform, stretching with their teammates on the field. Westerman on side.

Revis has to sit. Hamstring injuries suck. They take time. I'd love to have him back for Favre, but just having Pace back for that one would be good enough. They talked about Lito's hammy from last year and how that lingered and hurt us...we need The Diva at 100% for the second half of the season. Anyway, I'm with you guys.. don't rush any of these guys back. This would be a good game for Pace to play a few snaps but only if he's ready. I think the CS is being very smart with the injuries, and with the Bills game. We are lucky enough to have a 2-1 record heading into Buffalo and the luxury to not be dying for Revis and Pace to get back on the field.

Mattyandthejets
Hoping that we are up by 2 scores at least, I want to see John Conner run the ball and kill the clock, After watching what peyton hillis (ya i know hes a RB not a FB) did to baltimore I wanna see what a big bruising back like conner can do when he gets the ball. But theres a part of me that thinks schotty will find a way to play ultra conservative and it will be like 10-6 in the 4th quarter with the bills having the ball at the end

If I’m not mistaken the last time Connor got the ball he put it on the ground after running into Turner’s rear end. I still like the idea of giving him a few carries. Nice twist

flgreen
Wasn't it Greene who ran into Slauson vs BAL or are you referring to a preseason moment I don't remember? Actually we are both right. Greene ran into Slauson in the Ravens game and fumbled. In the final preseason game against the Eagles Connor had 3 carries. On his last one he ran into Turner’s arse and dropped the ball. Think that was the last touch he had.

Nice twist I don't mean it in a conservative context. Like I don't want to risk greene or LT getting hurt by just feeding them the ball for the sole purpose of killing clock, if Greene and LT each had a good game and we are dominating and theres like a whole quarter left, why not send conner in there to see what he can do? Thats probably why McKnight is going to be active. No need to risk important parts of this team when we're up by 20 in the 4th.
