Jay Cutler-Mike Martz

All people kept saying this week when it came to the Bears was that Cutler and Martz were the perfect combination. Are you kidding me? Tonight should dispel that myth. I really don't know how Chicago was 3-0 coming in, but when the QB is a borderline retard and the coordinator is too smart for his own good, its not a marriage that will last.

On a side note, the last remaining undefeated team is the Chiefs, and they'll be going to Indianapolis next week coming off their bye. Looks like the '72 Dolphins team will be uncorking their champagne early this year. C***suckers.

The OL is a sieve. They roll out of a red carpet for DEs on Cutler. It's clearly not a completely built offense, but the experiment is not doomed because they lost one game...Especially since it was no secret that the Bears weren't a great team ready to run to 19-0. They were bound to lose at one point, and that OL was going to be the reason why. It's how they press on that'll show how that Cutler/Martz thing will work out...personally, I think the offense needs another draft or two before it's done. They could really use a #1...I could see Holmes ending up there if he's the one we let go....and yes I know we'd never let that happen because he's the best.

That was brutal. The Oline is an issue as Gato mentions BUT the 7 step drop is rare in the NFL for a reason. It gets QBs killed. There's a reason why Martz QBs get hurt, thrown INTs, besides put up the occassional gaudy numbers.

Cutler sucks in prime time road games. Last year he threw 20 INTs in his 8 road games and only 6 INTs at home. I'd have to go and check but even for those road games I recall his prime time appearances as being particularly brutal.

I had forgotten or ignored this fact and had actually started him in fantasy in 2 leagues, in part due to byes. Cutler will be fine again next week, that's why he's such a frustrating player.

He was also holding the ball way too long. That O-line is not good to begin with. But Kurt Warner seemed to be just fine with 7 step drops. Martz QBs do turn the ball over and get sacked too much---they lead the league every time. I had wanted him here but I've actually since changed my mind. It was only a matter of time until Cutler got injured. As long as Schott is doing well, and he is now, he's a better OC to have.

If you want to see why people were talking up the Bears, watch the Bears-Cowboys game. They just cut right through the Cowboys defense, after a few bad series at the start.

The Jints' defense were not worldbeaters coming in. For them to get 9 sacks tells you the Bears' OL and scheme suck. Teams are going to look at the tape of that debacle and go to school on it. That 3-0 start is soon going to be a distant memory.

Well played. But when you're sacked TEN times, part of the fault lies in the QB holding onto the ball too long. Martz wasn't doing anything to adjust to the situation either with short slants and quick 3-step drops. Most of the time it seemed Cutler was looking way downfield.

Cutler has to accept checking down, he waits too much for the downfield stuff and holds the ball to long. Big ego

Cutler is the second coming of Jeff George. Cutler has the best arm in the NFL by a mile and easily is the most physically gifted passer in the league. But he just can't put it all together consistently. When he is on, there is no defense that can stop him, even with mediocre WRs and a bad O-line and no run game. He's just that good when he's hot. But his lows are probably only second to Brett Favre. Cutler is still better mentally on his worst days than Favre, although I suppose that's not saying anything.

Favre wouldn't be able to spell CAT if you spotted him the C and the T.

Forte caught the ball 7-10 times (can't remember, too lazy to look up) for 150+ yards in week 1.

Last night was a case of one extreme balancing out another extreme. The Bears offense isn't well built enough to be an elite one right now. The Martz-Cutler marriage is their best and only hope of not sucking on offense.

The only word for Jay Cutler is tantalizing. He's that guy who could so easily be an elite QB if he could just put it together for longer than a game or two at a time...

Him and Martz, both.

Martz thinks his system is the sh*t, and that it should just work in any situation. Thing is, it doesn't work all that well against a team that does one thing well: rush the passer. Then he makes no adjustments. Doesn't keep anyone back to pass protect, doesn't make a move to 5 or 3 step drops. Just expects his amazing vision to work out on the field because he believes it should.

I have no idea how that offense is supposed to work in Chicago in the wintertime, either.
