SenorGato
In today's Daily News there's a "Can't Forget Brett" headline...Here's a little piece I found interesting...please note that I'm not trying to start w/e you think I'm trying to start by bringing this up...I just think it's interesting: "The vibe toward Favre changed over the final five weeks. After a 34-13 rout of the previously unbeaten Titans in Week 12, Favre tore a biceps tendon in his throwing shoulder, which wouldn't be made public until a year later. The Jets unraveled. "I really think his body wore down on him," offensive coordinator Brian Schottenehimer said. "But I'm not placing all the blame with him. There were things I wish I would have done differently. There were plays that guys didn't make. But at the end of the day, I think hte whole year - getting hit - just kind of caught up to him." "None of the players that spoke tot he Daily News knew Favre was even hurt. Tannenbaum admitted last year that the coaches were aware of Favre's injury, but they didn't believe it was serious enough to warrant putting him ont he i jury report. Favre's ailing shoulder however, affected Schottenheimer's play-calling. "He would get hit on it sometimes and it would go numb," said Schottenheimer, who still keeps in contact with Favre. "I new that. I'd see him kind of shaking his fingers so I knew,'Hey, I better call a run here.'" - Holy sh*t @ the arm going numb. Why would you do that to yourself? Oh that's right...a multi-million dollar paycheck. - Why would Favre want to keep in contact with this a$$hole? What's Schottenheimer done for him besides made him look bad in America's biggest sports town. - Plays affect playcalls come gametime? GTFoooooooooooooooooooouttahere. Other things of note in the article: - Some players perceived Favre as not caring when he started tanking. - Yesterday in another article Ryan said he would have wooed Favre back if they didn't draft Sanchez. - Ex-teammates on why Favre admitting his injury wasn't mean-spirited towards the Jets..."He just starts rambling." Rotfl. Favre's getting his a$$ kicked Monday Night. 3 Sacks for Pace! Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!
slats
Link? Jets should've benched Favre, but that was Mangini's call, not Schottenheimer's. LOL at the excuses. SenorGato
Jets should've benched Favre, but that was Mangini's call, not Schottenheimer's. Not for nothing, but there's too much politics in that for it to go on any one man on the coaching staff. Tannenbaum admits in the article "we were truly going into it one year at a time." Tanny had alot invested in Favre...Woody probably thought Favre could be a gamechanger for the franchise...the coaches liked him...the players liked him...and lets face it...you're not going to bench a HOF who never misses a game in favor of a 3rd year QB who threw 5 TDs to 9 INTs in his only few starts. '08 was such a strange season. I hope it never happens again. Also...just an FYI...not thinking it's serious enough to list isn't uncommon. Eli Manning once had his shoulder pop out during a game...they popped it back in and he played on...This is back when he was much greener than a 38 year old veteran who never misses a game. RutgersJetFan
Link? FYI, I see this asked a lot of an OP who forgets to post it. You can save time and effort by just copying one or two lines and doing a sentence search in Google. I assume you don't know this because you're old.
