UCONN

The rankings are out.... The season is (almost) here!!

Syracuse opens its exhibition schedule tomorrow evening vs. D2 Kutztown. SNY is scheduled to broadcast "College Basketball" at that time tomorrow (tonight), but I can't confirm whether or not it is the Syracuse game they are showing. In the CNY area, it will be shown live on the TimeWarnerSportsNetwork.

Here's to another great season basketball fans... Lookin forward to another year of great discussion with you all.

And, as always...GO CUSE!!!

Nova played Kutztown last year. They had a couple good players, but not really a threat to Syracuse like the Le Moyne Dolphins....

Syracuse is 7-0 and ranked #7 in the nation, despite looking real lackluster against much inferior opponents (they beat Detroit by single digits, only beat William & Mary by 3, Michigan by 3 and GT by 4).

"Diaper Dandy" Fab Melo has looked nothing short of atrocious thus far, and until Tuesday's twenty point win over Cornell, was only averaging 12 minutes per game and Cornell was the first game he did not finish with 4 or more fouls. Kris Joseph was a complete no-show the first four games of the season, and finally turned it on against Michigan and Gtech in the Legends Classic... He's definitely going to need to keep improving. Brandon Triche is still a complete no-show...In fact, some might call him a liability thus far. Turning it over left and right and not scoring or dominating anywhere near the level he his capable of.

I've been impressed with the "project" Freshman Baye Moussa Keita, who has been pretty average (which is better than anyone at Cuse expected this year) when called upon as Fab takes his place on the bench. Also like, for the most part, what Scoop and Rick have shown thus far, although they need to do a better job of consistency and showing up on every play.

So far, Syracuse looks more like a bubble team than the #7 team in the nation. The good news is that the season is still relatively young and they still have time to get better for the Big East season, which opens up in late December. Two big games back-to-back upcoming as they face NC State at home on Sat afternoon then head to the Garden to face Michigan State on Tuesday as part of the Jimmy V Classic. Both games are nationally televised on the ESPN family, so we'll get a chance to see what this team is really made of.
