Thoughts on all of the pink?

I'm with you on this one.

I'm usually in support of things like this, because it is a good cause and blah blah blah.

But, I assumed it was only going to be 1 week, and one week was enough.

No doubt its a good cause, but hell...my mother even thought it was getting distracting.

The pink gloves have to be distracting to WRs.

You know, I would have thought these guys had their gloves that they wore every game. I'm surprised they were willing to change them.

Not so much superstition, but I'm sure they're worn in and comfortable for the player.

Those overpriced Nike gloves lose their stickiness after one game.

i sometimes wonder if it would be better to just use all this money that is being spent on the pink garb to cure/treat the damn disease.

i guess there is a certain benefit to advertising and awareness.

This is the NFL's now apparently yearly attempt at increasing the female base. That was also why Sanchez got a SB commercial last year, they were hoping that would get not only the female population, but of course the hispanic population into the NFL.

They couldn't care less about the actual charity or cause. They have actually fined players and prevented them from wearing even simply armbands to promote other causes, causes that are just as dangerous as breast cancer and target kids. Partly because they don't get money out of little kids apparently.

Since it IS a female cause, there is less complaining about it though. If this were black history month or hispanic heritage month and the uniforms changed people would be complaining more.

I'm all for breast cancer awareness. I love breasts.

But what about prostate cancer? Why does that not get any attention? It's just as deadly.

Send the NFL an e-mail and lobby for a game for the players to wear chaps.

I would have liked to have seen pink penalty flags for this week.

For some reason I thought that the pink was now supposed to symbolize prostate as well???

I for one am good with it. My mother is a breast cancer survivor and my aunt wasnt as lucky. I have no problem with the pink.

So true, can't stand those gloves. I remember back in HS, being just blown away at the price of them and using the same pair for the entire season.

But back on point; I have no problem with it as long as all the proceeds of selling the gloves/bands etc. all go towards cancer.

I don't buy this angle about promoting breast cancer awareness. People are aware of it. And its not like football is a magnet for female viewership.

Yeah, but they have enough money to basically pay for the treatment of every breast cancer victim in the country by now. Like most of these "causes" they are run by greedy people that just want the money, but will cover that up and will successfully guilt trip people into giving them money.

The guy that owns that company, I forgot the specific name, made $1M last year for running a "non-profit." I remember reading several of the other board members made about $400k on average. That's where a lot of that money goes. It's a scam like most of these things are. Non-profits are probably the cushiest job you can get, and are therefore virtually impossible to land for most normal people. Ironically the same normal people that are paying into these companies.

BCS are covered by all medical insurance plans, and Obama is requiring everyone to have insurance soon enough anyway, although statistically women have had health insurance. I don't see how wearing pink would matter in the least for that, especially if you are right about female viewership, which you probably are, I'd imagine it's mostly male viewership too.

The pink looks ugly to me and I just hate these types of disingenuous "causes" where I know it's a couple of rich elite dudes that are benefiting off of everyone else in the first place. Seriously $400k? Why don't those guys donate to the cause instead?

I hate when MLB does the pink thing. I hate when the NFL does it.

I understand its for a good cause but it gets really annoying to see my team wear pink for 4 games during october. Thats 1/4 of the season, are you telling me there isnt another worthy cause they can support? why not wear a yellow ribbon or something to support the armed forces. there is TOO MUCH pink though, cant they simply have a pink breast cancer ribbon decal on the back of the helmet where they used to put the american flag after 9/11? its really too much. pink shoes, gloves, towels, skull caps, mouth pieces...its ridiculous..enough already we get the point.
