Same Old Jets 1969 - 2010.

I won't lie, I was convinced this one was going to end up as a loss, especially after that whole clock management disaster.

But I should've trusted myself what I was saying earlier this season, this team is just different. The Jets keep hitting those instances where those old teams, the ones not coached by Rex Ryan, the ones not QBed by Mark Sanchez, would have let it get away. But this is one of the most resilient Jets teams imaginable, and they are managing to pull out wins every way. From the offensives and defensive battles, to just beating up on the inferior opponent and to winning the ugly ones. It's awesome, and something that is just taking a little bit of getting used to. But you can't helped but be pumped for the way these team has responded to any adversity.

Excellent post.

The biggest surprise for me is how resilient this team is. Usually it's the talentless, scrappy teams that are resilient because they need that to compete. When a team that is talented as the Jets (perhaps the most talented team in the NFL when looking at all 3 units) it is scary for the rest of the league for them to be so resilient.

We'll see how it all pans out, but this bodes very well for the Jets' future prospects for the remainder of the season and thereafter.

Thats what scares me.

PIT looking GREAT without a real QB. BAL looking great with Ed Reed watching from the sideline.

Thankfully, Steelers & Ravens play in the same division so 1 of them will be no better than the WC. To shamelessly look ahead, the hope is that the Steelers win the division and the Jets beat them later in the season so the Jets can get home field advantage.

And the Jets have looked great without a Super Bowl MVP WR, their best pass rusher, and a guy widely considered the best defensive player in the league in 2009. Yes, Revis has been playing, but he hasn't been his top notch self by any means, yet. I'd call it even.

The Same Old Jets are dead. I'll pronounce:

Time of Death: 12:33 AM

Date Of Death: 10.12.2010

If I ever utter the words again, Max can ban me.

Now I am torn, I really wanted them to beat the Broncos. But cleaning this site up is important as well. :D

I think SOJ will rear its ugly head a couple more times this season. Just consider it the last gasps of a man buried alive. SOJ is buried and time of death has been declared, but its still got a faint pulse.

Also, it worries me when GOB does stuff like this. Go back to being a grump dammit.

Good teams win ugly, close games like the Jets did last night.

And that was a good win for the Jets last night.

In the past, Farve would have hit a wide open Percy Harvin (who made Revis look like a fool) on the 2nd play with 2 minutes to go and the Vikes would have kicked a game-winning FG as time expired.

You have to win games like that to be successful.

Congrats on a good win.

Why do Pats fans post here?

SOJ isnt dead until they win a Super Bowl. We've had a couple times it looked like SOJ was dead and came back rearing its ugly head. Stop talking about it. Let it die on its own. Now that we've gone and talked about SOJ, we're going to feel its wrath again.

I will say this. This team is exciting to watch. I expect them to be perfect and Im bummed when they're not. Ive NEVER felt that way about a Jets team. Lets hope the good times continue.

I don't know if I am ready to bury SOJ yet.

I thought it was dead in 2002 after the Jets came back from the dead to win the East

I thought it was dead in 2004 after overcoming the Barton roughing the passer penalty and coming back to beat SD.

I thought it was dead in 06 when Mangini arrived.

I thought it was dead when they 8-3 in 2008

This was a really nice win. They didn't play their A game but it was just enough to beat a Vikings team that is good, but not as good as last year.

To me at least this dies if the Jets host the AFC Championship which is still a very long way away.

I've said the same thing in a couple threads. It's the difference between the champions and the also-rans. The champs win even when they're not clicking, and the Jets were definitely not clicking last night.

Huge victory against a talented team that was desperate for a win there.

Well said.

After 30 years of watching the SOJ, I can tell you why this team is NOT SOJ.

The management has finally taken their collective heads out of their a$$es.

Or it could just be random pot luck. In either case, we have a top notch GM in Tannenbaum.

And I'll be damned if we don't have the best head coach and coaching staff we've had in AGES.

Thanks to them, we have ammassed an amazing collection of top talent this year.

As a player, when you have that amount of talent around you, it makes you better, makes you want to play better. That breeds CONFIDENCE. Confidence that you can bounce back from mistakes in the game and win ugly if needed.
