Revis is a bigger Slouch than Moss

Mevis Slouch

Recommended Posts

Hey guys and girls!

Long time lurker, first time poster. Love the site and figured I'd start posting after an epic win last night. 4-1 baby.

There is a topic that I'd like to bring up that may or may not have been discussed on the board. I've seen a lot Darrelle Revis threads lately but none specifically talking about how he happens to be a bigger slouch than Randy Moss, who he likes to call a slouch whenever given the chance.

I dont know you if you guys noticed last night, but Revis wasnt even covering Moss. I found this surprising after all the trash talking during the week. Ironically, his teammate and other starting corner who called Randy out, got the job of covering Moss and while he did a decent job at times, he let a game changing TD happen which really changed the momentum. And while this was all going on, guess who was getting burned by Percy Harvin? Darrelle Revis.

Last nights actions among other Revis actions have brought me to the conclusion that Darrelle Revis is actually a much bigger slouch than sure fire HOF player, 2nd best ever to play his position, Randy Moss.

I'm really excited about the season and love this team. Just very disappointed in Mevis Slouch, hence my name. I think its too funny that Randy has burned us twice, but we got the last laugh. hahahahaahahaha!!!

Any way, just wanted to know what my fellow fans thoughts were on the subject. If this were another player in the league not on the Jets, I'd bet this board would be pretty brutal toward him (I've seen how you guys can act). I guess I'm wondering if you guys feel the same way as I do?

Look forward to being an active member on the board.

Go Jets

Welcome to the board.

Have you been reading my posts while you were lurking? I've been saying this for days now.

Its all good though, we dont have to see Moss any more, so that embarrassment is over and we WON! Thats all that matters.

1. Moss was going to be running 9 routes all game and the Jets (rightly) wanted Revis to not have to run that much when he clearly wasn't 100%. I think the fact that he played injured should buy him a few breaks around here...

2. The guy they put on Moss actually did a great job on him now 2 games in a row. And his size makes him ideal for that job as well.

3. It's not like he was covering a great WR... Oh wait he was. Harvin is one of the hardest covers in the league.

4. The reason why Moss is a slouch is that he takes plays/games/halves off when he's in a pissy mood about whatever sand is in his vagina at the time. Revis never does that.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm looking forward to talk Jets Football.

lancemehl - yes, I'm a Jets fan. I didnt have an NFL team until this offseason when I started watching hard knocks. Rex Ryan is the coolest man on the planet and he's made me an instant Jets fan. I'm really only a Football fan. Other sports are cool, but not fun enough to follow. I'm just glad I now have a team to root for because there is no NFL in my town.

JiF - you are funny and very knowledgeable. I've seen some of your posts and know you agree with me!

dbatesman - I dont know what that means.

mademikeisback - good post. just weird that he was talking all that trash and didnt even cover him. And he didnt really do a good job covering Harvin. Harvin whipped him badly.

slats - I've seen your posts before and you are very passionate about Revis. I dont get your pictures or why you bolded that one part. There isnt a thread on this, just seen it discussed in other threads. Should I have not started a thread?

The Brooklyn Jet - I cant see what you are posting on this computer.

from another thread...

"It was hurting throughout the game and I just foughtthrough it and made it though the game," Revis said.

Ryan said he was unaware of that.

"I thought just theopposite," Ryan said. "I thought about challenging him more. I neversaw it."

Ryaninsisted that the team did not rush Revis back, and said the wet conditionsduring the game played no factor in the decision to let him play.

"We wouldn't have put him outthere if we didn't think he was healthy," Ryan said. "We thought hewas healthy, ready to play. I think he felt he was healthy, ready to play."

And Percy Harvin is not a great WR. He has some great talent but stop making it out as though he does this to everyone -- or even anyone. This was the best game Harvin has had against anyone.

Week 1 vs NO = 12 yards. 0 TD's.

Week 2 vs Miami = 32 yards, 0 TD's

Week 3 vs Detroit = 62 yards, 1 TD

Week 4 vs Jets = 97 yards, 2 TD

He just put up about the same #'s last night that he had in his first 3 games combined. I especially liked how Revis got tossed to the ground like he was nothing by the physically imposing Percy Harvin. The truth is that never would have happened with the 2009 version of Revis.

The Jets and the fans are not getting what was promised from Revis during his holdout. So far this year he's Lito Sheppard with a Revis jersey.

But let's not act like there were no other circumstances that affected this game. He now as a HOF WR lining up with him, which allows him to play in his more natural role in the slot...like last year with Rice. Chilly even said that Harvin had his best two practices of the year the day Moss came to town and would benefit the most...which he did.

Without Moss, Harvin doesn't go off for 2 tds and 90+ yards. But that point is moot, because Moss was there and he didn't toast our defense. However, we shouldn't act like he's never put up big numbers against other teams.

Oh please. He had Rice opposite him the whole season last year and Harvin never had a 100-yard, 2-TD game. Let alone on the road, in the rain, with a QB going through a mental meltdown.

It was a career day for him.

Sperm is owning Revis and the reviphiles worse than anybody on the vikings ever did!

That is true, he never had a 100-yard, 2-td game...but than again, is that the only barometer of being a competent receiver? How about, as a rookie, playing in a system that's not tailored to get him the ball and he puts up 800 yds and 6 tds. With a five game span of;

*5 - 84 - 1 td

*3 - 53 - 0 td

*5 - 79 - 1 td

*6 - 101 -1 td

*6 - 79- 1 td

Oh and that QB going through the mental breakdown, threw a couple of the most perfect passes you will see all year against us.

The contract stuff is over. I just want to see Revis play like a star CB again so the Jets secondary can hold up the "Attempt passes at your own risk" sign again.

I feel ya, ME too!

And no, I'm not trying to be perverted here. :D

I 100% agree that if this was 2009 Revis, harvin wouldn't have had the game he did, but I think it's kind of a copout to portray harvin as a scrub receiver. Not to mention, he has only had one 100 yard receiving game, and that was last year. Now, I'm not nitpicking over 3 yards, but it's not like he went off on revis for 170 and 2 tds. He made two big plays, other than that, he wasn't shredding our defense.

The vikings offense (and Favre specifically) had been horrible up until last night so you can't really kill Harvin for that. He's one of the most explosive players in the sport. Revis is still hurt and looked awful last night. That doesn't make him a slouch though. People are panicking about him way too early in my opinion. He'll be fine.

What are you arguing with? Harvin just had the best game of his career. If he does that repeatedly, every week, in the rain then you can make the point that he is a great WR. He has not and he will not. And the truth is Moss wasn't even in there on every play because he didn't know enough plays yet.

Lots of QB's make lots of perfect passes. If the coverage is there, like it was with Revis last season, then it isn't completed and the pass doesn't look as perfect.

Harvin is explosive. You didn't say that. You said he was a great WR. Darren Sproles is (ok, was) explosive also but was never considered a great RB.

I hope he will be fine. I don't buy that he's as hurt as he's making it out to be. Sorry, I just don't. And even if he is it's his own fault. So if he's hurt I've got a problem with Revis this year and if he isn't really I've got a problem with Revis this year.

LOTS of players play hurt with worse injuries and don't look this bad. Revis (allegedly) got a mild muscle strain a month ago, nothing more. He's not less talented than he was. He just looks out of shape or less-motivated or both.
