If anybody remembers...

In 1981 we had the start of the "Sack Exchange" and we set the all-time sack record for a defense. Klecko had 20.5 sacks and Gastineau had 22 (a record that stood till Favre gave it to Strayhan) We also had the #1 running game in the NFL and probably the best OL as well. The Jets ended the year finishing 10-5-1 and the Giants 9-7.

1981 was also the first time the Jets made the playoffs in 12 years - after going the entire decade of the 1970's without making a single playoff appearance.

The only other teams in the 1970's that didnt make playoff appearances for that decade were the Saints and GIANTS.

The Giants drafted #56 LT that year and he was the Defensive Rookie of the Year (cocaine and hookers aside ;)

The Giants also made the playoffs for the first time in 12 years in 1981.

The football TV "Gods" all said the Giants had the best defense in the NFL. It was as if the Sack Exchange did what they did with "mirrors".

2010:

I heard on ESPN radio 2x this week that the Giants have the best defense in the NFC and the Defensive Rookie of the Year and (perhaps) the best defense overall in pro football based on yards allowed.

Last year we had the #1 overall defense, but, Giants fans said it wasnt because it wasnt "dominant" enough or "scary" enough for opposing QB's. We also had the #1 running game last year and one of the better OL's, but, now Giants announcers are saying that Manning is a better QB than Sanchez and this makes the Giants offense in fact better than the Jets.

Now the Jets might go 12-4 and the Giants might go 11-5 and we'll hear the Giants are the better team all over again.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Who gives a rat's a$$?

The Jets aren't embarrassingly inconsistent like the Giants are.

All that matters is who is holding the super bowl trophy in Feb. Why care about whats happening week 6 of the NFL season by blowhards whose job is to get you pissed off. Waste of time.
