By what measure????????

The ONLY measure to use when evaluating a team's offensive and defensive rankings is points scored and points allowed.

Total yardage is a completely meaningless statistic.

Pats gave up a lot of yardage yesterday, but when they needed a few 3-and-outs (2 late in the game and 2 in OT), they got them.

So who gives a rat's a$$ that they are ranked 29th in yards allowed?

how about the Pats are last in 3rd down defensive efficiency thing?

By what measure? When you include special teams' scores in total points? Because they're 10th in total yards. Chargers are #1 in that category.

Chargers are also giving up the fewest yards in the league, while the Pats rank #29 in that category.

San Diego's undefeated at home, and it's always tough to travel across the country.

Just trying to help you out here. These are all excuses you can use after the game.

Not to mention that the last time a Pats team went to San Diego to face a Chargers team this desperate they got hammered 30-10.

Yeah, conveniently adding in defensive and special teams TD's in the offensive totals helps, too.

Chargers are better than their record. NE isn't as good as theirs. Chargers are tough at home, NE not so much on the road. Should be a good game.

Stopping the Ravens once or twice at home isn't the same thing as stopping San Diego on the road. The Ravens scored a little more than their average against the Pats. The Chargers average 26 points a game. By yards or points, you'll be facing a much better offense next Sunday.

The Pats were 100% in 3rd down effciency yesterday on the Ravens last 2 4th quarter drives and their first 2 drives in OT.

The Ravens converted 6 straight 3rd downs on their opening drive and only got a friggn' FG after holding the ball for 8 minutes.

Which scenario is more important?

NE has the worst secondary in the NFL.

Too bad Gates got hurt he would have abused them for at least 150 yards and a couple TD's.

Chargers just announced Gates may now play. Not as bad as 1st thought.

First, the bad news: Kevin Acee of the San Diego-Union Tribune reports that wide receiver Malcom Floyd and kicker Nate Kaeding are not expected to playagainst New England.

The good news: The Chargers are "hopeful" tight end Antonio Gates will suit up despite what appears to be a toe injury. San Diego was also missing wideoutLegedu Naanee in a loss to the Rams Sunday.

San Diego's receiver depth is a big issue this week because they could present matchup problems for New England's so-so secondary.

How convenient. Paranoidfantx will be so proud if they beat a team without it's top 3 receivers.

1) Can't say the Patsies have more Ws so claims we're even at 1 loss each.

2) Winning by an FG in OT is bitch slapping an opponent at home?

1) That staement is 100% true and accurate.

2) How did the Jets do against the same team when they played the Ravens at home?

Hey 4life, nice win over a quality opponent yesterday.

My, my, my ... aren't we giddy over our surprising win over the Ravens yesterday. Has it made you delusional enough to believe the Pats are better without Moss? What do you know that Brady doesn't? He knows the Pats can't be as good without Moss, he said so. Did you see the look on Belichick's face after the game? Did it look like he was expecting to win? He had the same look as when like they deliver a fresh corpse to the back of his house. Sheer childlike joy.

Belichick traded a HOF WR in the middle of the season for draft picks? A guy who has caught something like 50 TDs in his last 52 games with the Pats. The greatest long ball threat the game has ever seen. And you think they are NOT rebuilding? hahahahahahahahaha

The Jets beat the Pats 28 - 14 WITH Moss. hahahahahahahahaha

Actually, it's not. Due to a little thing called winning percentage. Patriots have the same amount of loses, agreed -- but one less win. And after all, any team, even those striving for 19-0 perfection can lay an egg at any time. Which is why 5-1 > 4-1.

As for #2, the Jets lost to the Ravens. Were undisciplined, didn't adjust, and got out played in a game that just like the Pats/Ravens game, came down to the wire. Fact of the matter is, it's a 4/5 man race in the AFC (Jets/Pats/Steelers/Ravens and even Colts...those they are behind). They very well may be the 4-5 best teams in the NFL as well. Injuries, coaching, and players peaking are going to play a big role in who ends up with what seed, and more importantly who advances further in the playoffs. I think the Jets, with Revis firing on all cylinders, have more TALENT than the others (though the Steelers probably have something to say about that) but a lot more factors in to winning than the most talent. It's going to be a great season, and luckily the Jets have played themselves into being at or near the top of the October mountain(just for you Tx) for the first time I can remember.

Wow, only lost by 1 point?

Congrats on your moral victory.

BTW, where do they show up in the standings?

For the first time in years, the Jets have gotten to a point where we, as the fan base, don't see moral victories anymore. It's only W's and L's. And no one in the league has more W's than the Jets right now...something that does show up in the standings.

You're embarrassingly lame.

We don't need to compare how the Pats and Jets did against common opponents because we have a head-to-head matchup we can look at instead. Jets won that one 28-14.

Just stop with this nonsense.

If this was the end of week 17, you are 100% correct.

But after 6 weeks, it's absolutely meaningless.

Good post, pretty much agree with everything you said.

Hey, just two short years ago the Jets were actually on top of the November mountain at 8-3.

That was one hell of a nasty fall.

Right.

But it's meaningful that the Pats beat the Ravens by a FG in OT, and the Jets lost to them by a point, right?

You take hypocrisy to ridiculous extremes.
