joebabyny
For those of you who haven't heard, the Jets now have the Fanvision at the stadium. It's a cool device that has a lot of features to enhance the gameday experience. Got to really use mine for the first time in Denver this past weekend and figured I would do a little writeup for those who might be interested. fanvision review

dolphann4life
I love the frickin thing. I make my girl hold it because i'm usually double fisting beer at the game, and will surely break it if it was in my possesion for a long period of time, but the replays on bad calls and checking in on the other games is nice to have, especially if you gamble or if your into fantasy football. I recomend it if you have someone else to hold it lol.
JohnnyHector
So, this is why there's no data service inside the stadium...

Bugg
$200 for a platform that is a unitasker seems a bit much. Why not an app on a handheld smartphone or PSP?Though as above, does ANYONE get service in Retail Firetrap Stadium?

I don't have any issues with voice service (which was spotty in the old stadium), but just as before, I do not get data service despite having having a strong 3G signal from AT&T. war ensemble
What's the resolution and screen size of the thing? How does that screen perform in sunlight?
joebabyny
What's the resolution and screen size of the thing? How does that screen perform in sunlight? The screen is 4.3 inches. As far as resolution, it doesn't really say on the site, and googling around I am seeing some people say qvga and HD, don't know which is accurate. As far as real world, the picture quality is totally acceptable for the graphics and tv broadcast, so I wouldn't even care what the resolution is. I used it on a sunny day and didn't find it to be an issue. The fact that it is small and you will be most likely holding it directly in front of you around chest high means you will most likely be casting a shadow on the screen anyway, blocking the light. True. I only asked about resolution because your pic of the fantasy football stuff shows a ton of info on the screen...that much text requires a decent enough res so I'll take your word for it. The sun may be an issue if in the upper decks with the sun glaring from opposite you, but you can always shield it. If I had season tickets I would buy the thing. I don't know what type of tech it's using but the company could make more money offering it as an app for cheaper (i.e. 199 minus whatever the hardware is actually costing them, so virtually the same profit). joebabyny
I believe it uses a combination of wifi and UHF. I think it wouldn't be possible to broadcast those video feeds to thousands of phones in the stadium at once, hence the UHF.

Having to buy this device isn't shocking though, if we use history as our guide.

I can barely send a text message in the stadium, I can't imagine an app would be usable. And like I said anyway, this really uses UHF anyway. Ever since then it has been okay (the wireless connection). Been able to post etc on JN during the game, check twitter etc. Better be since I am starting at a Verizon sign the whole game.
