AFC East Week 7

Interesting set of games this week for our AFC East foes as we sit out. Miami hosting Pittsburgh, the Pats visiting San Diego and the Bills are on the road against the Ravens. While we should be rooting hard for the Chargers to pull off the upset against New England, we ought to root for the hapless Bills to shock Baltimore (OK...not happening). As for the Miami game, of course we should root against the Phins, but if the Steelers lose it isn't the WORST thing that could happen.

Based on the TV Maps, the New York area and the nation in general will be watching the Miami and New England games, making these matchups crucial not only to us but indeed to the AFC as a whole. How will everyone fare?

The Chargers are coming off a loss to the Rams and are missing Malcolm Floyd and Legedu Nenee (their # 1 and 2 WR's), and Antonio Gates is questionable with a toe injury. It looks like he's a gametime decision. I still say the Chargers get the W. Ryan Mathews is talented and if San Diego turns to him to share some of the load with Rivers's targets banged up, I'd bank on him having a breakout game. And no matter who Rivers is throwing the ball to, he produces. The Pats, meanwhile, seem ready to oblige, as they have allowed opponents to complete a gaudy 70 % of their throws thus far this season. I expect the Pats to get beat on their west coast trip; not even Danny Woodhead can save them. Chargers 27, Patriots 20.

Miami is all smoke and mirrors. They are completely inferior to the Steelers in just about every way, and their back-to-back home losses in primetime to divisional foes showed its not difficult to go into Miami and win. Perhaps they play better on the road because there are fewer distractions? With all that aqua and orange, homosexual behavior and Marc Anthony telling fans to "get their phins up" and "feed the wolf", I'd lose at home too. The Wildcat has been shelved, and with Roethlisberger back, the Steelers will put up points early and often through the air. This will give Henne a chance to put up a statistically appealing day that will cover up the fact that he sucks. Ronnie Brown called the Steelers "bullies" earlier this week, and he's right. That's exactly what they are. The Steelers D has only allowed 12 points per game, and I don't see Miami scoring significantly above that average. Steelers 31, Dolphins 13.

Heavy doses of Ray Rice will carry the day for the Ravens, and on D, there is a possibility we might get our first glimpse of Ed Reed this season as he gets activated from the PUP list. Baltimore cruises on to a 5-2 record to keep pace with the Steelers. The Bills, meanwhile, become the only 0-6 team in the NFL, as the Panthers are on a bye. Ryan Fitzpatrick only has 12 games left to show the Bills that they do not need to take one of several talented young QB's with the 1st overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. Ravens 24, Bills 3.

Kinda funny that 95% of Jets fans on this board had the Pats losing to Miami and getting blown out by the Ravens the last two weeks.

They are afraid of the Patroits.

Basically, NE wore down the exact same defense the Jets run last week vs the Ravens. And, the young NE D is gaining confidence each week.

The Pats are the last team Jet fans want to see December 6th.

Miami sucks and will drop to .500 tomorrow.

Pats should have their way with a severely banged up Chargers' team, though. Unfortunately.

I didn't have you losing to Miami, and I had a sneaking suspicion you'd exact revenge over Baltimore. However I'm confident you will lose in San Diego. West coast trips are a different beast, and the Chargers simply can't afford to fall to 2-5. Not really a knock on the Patriots, who are going to be on our tails all season long regardless.

Did you miss my previous post?

I said the exact same thing about the Pats/Chargers game.

Is it the same Pats team that was shutout in the 2nd half against the JETS and gave up 18 unanswered points ?

Yeah, the JETS are afraid.

That's typical Steelers defense.

Phins first two gift possessions will come back to haunt them.

This is a good battle to see who the 2nd best team in the NFL is right now. Miami is now in field goal range.

Don't cut your team short.

The Jets are up there with the Phins and Steelers as the 2nd best team.

All the experts said today the Pats are still the best team in the AFC, so it must be true.

I am basing my evaluations on record. You are basing yours on the voices in your head.

No, I'm going by what the football "experts" say.

If they didn't know what they were talking about, they wouldn't be called experts.

I stand corrected. Good luck in your pursuit of the expert title.

I will be busy watching the Jets win games on the football field.
