Is Josh McDaniels instantly on the hot after Raider BEAT DOWN?

I mean, what do you expect when you trade away your two best players?

Then, probably the best guy you have left gets hurt?

See, that's the funny thing...their passing game is the only thing they've done right. Orton isn't terrible and is putting up great numbers which kind of makes trading your QB/WR a moot point. Even if that wasn't the case, I never expect ANY NFL team to give up 59 points.

The Raiders are actually a pretty good team. They barely lost 1 game on a missed FG, and I have no idea how the Niners beat them either. I guess total desperation. This team will probably win the division imo.

No team should be giving up 59.

The worst teams in the league right now are the Panthers, Cardinals, Niners, the Lions, the Jaguars and probably the Broncos and Bengals. The Bills are winless but I don't think they are as bad as these teams either.

You'd have to put the Raiders above all these guys. That could still put them in the bottom 10, but in a league of parity, getting hot can make you a playoff team instantly. Don't be surprised to see the Raiders in the playoffs.

They beat some teams they weren't supposed to beat last season when they had Gradkowski in there. You could definitely see that they were on the right track. They could definitely win that division.

The Raiders aren't going to win the division, but they've been playing better since mid or last last year. They've got athletes and talent, but iunno if they're playoff good yet.

The alternative is the Chiefs winning the division. I don't think the Chargers or Broncos will, neither of those teams has shown anything.

Orton was putting up huge numbers until the last two weeks.

Against both the Raiders and the Jets his completion percentage was in the low 40s.

Clearly Rex Ryan and Mike Pettine figured something out about how to defend this guy and the Raiders carefully studied the Jets game and applied the same philosophy defensively.

I would expect all of their future opponents to follow suit. He may have a couple more good games when playing weak defenses the rest of the way but any team that can defend him the Raiders and Jets did will have similar success.

And then you draft horribly.

Don't forget that part.

He trades away his best 2 players, then doesn't draft well, and then loses his next best player to injury. That's a recipe for disaster and except for the Elvis injury it's all on McDumbass.

The best part of the Raiders success this season is that Belichick and the Chowds were confident they were getting a top 5 pick in the 2011 draft but now it will likely be in the 15th pick range.

This is true. I root for Oakland every week. I can't wait 'til they beat Miami later in the year. That's gonna be awesome!

What would be ultimate karma is if the Raiders somehow won the AFCW with an 8-8 record, faced the WC 11-5 Pats in Oakland and win. With the new draft seeding based on playoff performance the Raiders would end up with a lower 1st rounder than the Pats. Yeah, trading Seymour would look real good right then. LOL.

I'm not sure that's true...I doubt Belichick thought he was giving the Raiders a finished Seymour...It's just extremely invaluable to have 2 first round picks with the way teams value draft picks...plus I doubt the Pats wanted a top 5 contract.

I like the direction the Raiders have been putting themselves in the past couple years...It's too bad they took Russell over Johnson or AD or Joe Thomas or anyone but Russell in '07. If he was competent they'd be a legit contenders by now...

Belichick wanted a Top 5 pick so he could trade it for five 4th rounders.

Russell killed them, but that's an NFL truism when a team misses on a high 1st round QB. They make some good moves and then bad moves that keep them from making the jump.
