the real question is does that mean marcus dixon is going to be active? He's been on the 53 man but hasn't played a snap all year. follow up question will gilbert leap frog dixon and actually be active? Will both be inactive?

this has very little to do with gholston.

This is a very good player. I don’t know what happed to him on the Bears that they dumped after one season, but I have to assume Rex has gotten something out of him in practice.

Attached are two Senior bowl tapes. One is the practice the other is game highlights.

Guy is kind of a one trick pony, in that so far all he has shown is he can penetrate, and bring some heat on the QB. That’s what the Jets DL badly needs

Anything involving another young DL guy has to do with Gholston. The Jets are *clearly* dying to get him off the roster... :D

Gholston's Bryan Thomas all over again...If every guy drafted to be a premium pass rusher became an instant sensation premium pass rusher then there wouldn't be such a premium on pass rushers. Like Thomas, he'll probably never be a great sack guy, but the more I see him the more I do think he can have a career in the NFL.

Hopefully Gilbert turns into a Jason Hatcher/Kenyon Coleman type guy for the Jets.

that's what I've been saying... Bryan Thomas is a key part of the defense right now. Great run stuffer, less than ideal pass rusher but can get sacks. And he's been a Jets player for about 8 seasons.

He's not Bruce Smith but if he's Bryan Thomas that's ok.

The New York Jets replaced one wide body with another, signing DT Jarron Gilbert from their practice squad Wednesday. He takes the spot of DT Howard Green, who was released Tuesday.

Gilbert (6-5, 285), out of San Jose State, was a third-round pick of the Chicago Bears in 2009. He played in four games last season, recording one tackle. This is his first week on the Jets' active roster.

The Jets also filled a spot on their practice squad, signing CB Will Billingsley (North Carolina A&T).

You can see Gholston building a niche in this D...He's been the #1 DL off the bench this year if I'm thinking right...I wouldn't be shocked to see him flash in the 2nd half and in this D I expect he'll have a really nice season or two.

WhyTF are we comparing Thomas to Gholston in any shape or form? Throw in Gilbert and all three have NOTHING in common.

Because there's similarities that may or may not be there...It's better than the outright Gholston sucks garbage...I'm pretty sure the world understands at this point that no sacks is bad. Sacks aren't so be all end all that it means a career can't be had...

Already reported and he was activated not signed. Look around.

Gholston is beyond terrible, he sucks balls.

this is hyperbole. Lets see if Jarron Gilbert even gets active before we declare him awesome. I think this might mean Marcus Dixon is ready to play and Gilbert is ready to be the next Dixon (perpetually inactive project). Or maybe they are tired of waiting on Dixon and want to audition him this week.

put it another way the 7th DL doesn't threaten then 4th DL on the depth chart. He threatens the 6th DL on the depth chart.

Why the hate? You usurped his role! He's not that concerned about Gilbert, it's the practice squad signing he loves. What's next? Are you going to post Mangini's players of the week? When players are elevated from the practice squad they get an NFL contract and I don't see any problem with using the term signed.
