LMAO at Notre Dame

Recommended Posts

I have thoroughly enjoyed watching Notre Dame lose games this year, but yesterday's loss to Tulsa was priceless.

Losing their starting QB, RB, TE and a slew of others didn't help. The numbers just came out and Notre Dame was again the best team in the country at graduating students. That's more important to them. People love hating on ND. Those people have a complex.

As do those who think it's one of the elite academic institutions. This is a football discussion and they suck. Want to discuss academics? There probably is an ivy league forum somewhere.

Too bad that doesnt win you football games. Until ND lowers their academic standards and stops pretending they're better than everyone else then maybe they'll beat powerhouses like Tulsa.

The only time people take pride in graduation rates is when the team sucks.

yes, but true. Who cares about the graduation rate of a school unless you graduated from there? That's like all the knuckleheads at college football games singing the alma mater that never even went to the school. Makes no sense at all. College football today is a big business. For the schools themselves too. You don't win, you lose all those perks like being covered on NBC! I don't see anyone bragging about the graduation rate of a Cornell,Brown,Yale, etc. Because no one cares. They don't have big time football. Nebraska used to always be near the top in academic all americans. No one cared about that. They cared if the team was winning or not. Just the truth.

So you're saying smart guys can't play football?

Not too long ago, in fact within the last 20 years, Lou Holtz ran a successful program at ND that was an annual contender for the national championship while developing future Pro-Football Hall of Fame caliber talent, all of whom graduated.

Are you seriously suggesting that football players have gotten dumber in the last 20 years?

For whatever reason, the truth about academics and sports hurts the middle aged guys feelings. Division one football players at major programs are there to play football, period. ND right now is a laughingstock because of their holier than thou approach, until the go back to bending the rules for 5 or 6 speed studs on defense they'll remain terrible. Every division one school is on TV now.

So were gonna pretend that ND wasnt bending the rules under Holtz? CMon...

Yours is far worse. You're actually arguing that a college shouldn't set academic expectations for athletes.

All successful athletic programs already don't. I'm not making an argument, just stating the truth. What do you think separates Ohio St from ND?

They have a coach that represents the culture of the school and will admit anyone that can run fast and catch a ball.

I'm not even close to saying what you implied. There are lots of smart kids who play all sports in college. And not just at Notre Dame. This started out people busting on Notre Dame because of their football failures. Lots of people root against them like lots of people root for them. For the haters. it doesn't involve academic prowess. For the supporters, that's all there is to cheer about. I'm simply stating that no one cares as a "football" fan what their graduation rate is. Lou Holtz won there in the 80's. If it's a catholic thing, which it seems to be with all those that I know, I'd rather root for Boston College. Remember the catholics vs convicts thing? My brother in law went to Notre Dame in the early 80's with Allen Pinkett. It ain't as pure as they would like you to think. I have been to a game there. It's cool to see a game but I still love it when they lose. Especially to teams like Navy and Tulsa. Just my opinion.

By the way. Stanford has a very high graduation rate also. Their football program isn't bad either.

Which proves it can be done. Kelly is in his first year. He'll get them back up there.

Why do all the ND haters seem to forget that Weis went to BCS games his first two years?

sure it can be done. We as football fans that hate Notre Dame are just loving it while they are losing. That's all. I live in Pa. and also hate all the adoration Paterno gets. They want to win big again? He needs to go.

If I were ND, I'd go after Ferentz...not the flash in the pan hot names they've been doing recently.

Kelly proved he can win in a crappy conference, with another guys players running a gimmick offense. What makes anyone think he can turn ND around?
