Hello everybody, I am a poster for the Lionsfanatics.com forum board and wanted to reach out to the fans of the team we play this week and create some friendly banter and some insight from you about your team. Here are many of the thoughts this week about the game-

1) Our offense is good. Calvin and Best have been playing great and well respectively. Stafford is back and knocked some rust off. With that said, we are all VERY, VERY scared of your defense. In fact if you said that you win the game and we get through with a healthy Stafford and team, I would take it right now.

2) Don't think our defense is same old, same old. The starters from the 2008 0-16 team - zero. Only 4 from last year. The rushing numbers against us are not as good as they seem as Green Bay's yards and New York's yards against us came late in the game, not throughout. (This may help you seal the deal, but those teams had to pass to win.) Overall, it is an improved group - not top 10 or close to the talent you have, but not a walk through.

3) Everyone is billing this Sanchex vs. Stafford. Right now, Sanchez has the edge as he has wins and playoffs. But, Stafford has been injured 11 out of 23 games. Thus, his report card would be an incomplete.

4) The Lions have been in every game this year. Lost 5, won 2 but could easily be 3-4 without some silly interpretation and extremism of a rule.

Overall, I think you guys win in a 21-7 or 24-9 fashion. But, good luck this week and look forward to some comments and discussion!

Thanks for the objective post and welcome to JN. You seem to live in reality, which is very different from the opposing fans that post here from our own division, and that's refreshing. I'm personally very glad you guys have a viable franchise again, it's good for Detroit and it's good for football. I'm very concerned that we won't be able to move the ball against your defense, which is bottom third of the league but only a few places away from a Packers D that shut us out yesterday and has played very inspired football.

Thanks for stopping in and see you Sunday as some of us are coming in for the game.

Welcome to doomsday nation. Your team is catching ours at the right time. Our offense is worthless, yours outstanding. Our defense is getting better, but they score no points.

Detroit will win this game if things stay status quo in New Jersey. As a matter of fact, I heard Rex gave the team the whole week off to think about yesterday's top notch performance.

Any fan from another long suffering fan base is welcome in my book -- I believe we will win this game in the same fashion you stated and should be a fun time as I too will be visiting your city for the 1s time. I know you guys are rebuilding but some of the doom and gloomers here are pissing me off. Now all of a sudden Detroit and Cleveland will give us fits and we will have problems trying to beat them. hahahahahaha We win te next 2 .. Welcome and good luck this Sunday.

Welcome to the board. To be honest, the Jets defense this year hasn't been quite up to the hype, although they played very well yesterday against Green Bay. That said, I think the Lions offense is one that could potentially give the Jets problems if Stafford can put together a good game. Revis still is clearly shaking off some rust and while Cromratie has played well, he's not shutting down CJ. Combine that with the Jets almost non-existent pass rush and the Lions could certainly make some plays. The Jets pass defense has been hit or miss this season, and the Lions have been airing it out this season.

To be honest, as strange as it may sound, had the Jets pulled out a win yesterday, I would be more nervous about this game. Under that scenario, the Lions would very much scare me as a trap game, as I think they're a much better team then they've gotten credit for. The defense has some ways to go, but the offense is legit. That said, I think the Jets pull a win out here as redemption after getting completely embarrassed at home. The Jets offense will show up enough to counteract the instances where the Lions beat the Jets defense, especially since Schotty usually manages to suddenly not look like a complete moron once he realizes his a$$ is on the line. After a loss like the way they just suffered, there's no way they underestimate the Lions for even a second, which is a good thing for the Jets. Should be a good game though.

Long suffering? Rebuilding since 57! But, I'm in my mid 30s so it hasn't been that long. If you are staying overnight, you can't go wrong at any of the casinos. For food, go to Sloe's BBQ. You will wait but beyond worth it. You will like Ford Field as well.

You won't have issues winning this weekend but it will be closer than most think. Good luck and safe travels.

Haven't had that much booze to do it since my rehearsal dinner for my wedding. Stafford has come back and won games for us a few times already. Admittedly, I have not watch every Jets game except the playoffs. With that said, I don't know what I have heard about Sanchez setting the world on fire as all I hear about is your D and your offensive line. Both of which are required for a good football team by the way.

And what have the Lions missed? D and offensive line, but we are getting better!

My best friend is a life long lions fan, and I sadly have too much knowledge about them due to my constant playing them in Madden.

Your offense has looked pretty nice this year. As a Jet fan the thing I'm most afraid of is Best out of the back field. I think that Grew/Burleson/Megatron are going to keep our secondary pretty busy, but I dont' think we have any LB that can match up with Best coming out of the backfield and catching passes. Additionally If you guys run some quick screens with Best I think you have big play potential there.

If I'm Cunningham I just let your front 4 try to generate pressure and just let your LB's try and fill gaps in the run game rather than blitz like crazy. A player I think could potentially have a big day is Delmas, who I love. Kid takes lots of chances and I think with the way Sanchez tends to hold onto the ball a little too long it's going to let him get a good jump on a ball and pick one off.

Personally I think this game is too close for me to call. You have a D-Line that is become really, one of the better ones in the league, and we have a great O-line. We were able to keep Clay Matthews in check all-game minus one play with just having one man out against him and the same thing for Jared Allen who was shut out all game. Those are two guys you know well so that gives you an idea as to the ability of our O-Line.

I'll be at Ford Field to enjoy the game with my friend. We're pretty amped about the trip, we'll be on the 50, 30 rows back on the Jets side.

Welcome. I have to be honest, I think my Jets will win. But we are in for a tough fight with you guys, think you are a little better than your record indicates. Getting better on both sides of the ball it seems. That ought to be a welcome comfort to you right now after all those years of disappointment. At least you know you are moving in the right direction.

Sanchez right now is having a very good season actually (9 TD/4 INT, but a little low on completion %). Our defense hasn't been amazing but yesterday was Revis' first game at 100% and as you can see we kept them under double digits.

Sounds like a good game.. Good luck but obviously hoping my Jets take the game.

I like Stafford a lot. I know he's been banged up but if he can get over that, he's going to be really good. I started a do whatever it takes to draft Stafford thread around that time. He's a stud.

Anywho, I got ask. WTF do you talk about on a Lions message board? lol

Littlekaps - I live in Royal Oak.

Slows BBQ is the best in Metro Detroit, period. I was just at Nemos the other night before the DET-PHX game at the Joe,,,took everything I had not to go grab a rack over there.

Ford Field is also a beautiful stadium. Haven't been at a game since 2006 Thanksgiving Day game. Looking forward to it.

Our Jets crew will be in section 121.

In 2006, we talked about the Tigers in the World Series, in 2004, we talked about the Pistons winning the title and every other year, we talk about the Red Wings going to the Cup Finals. We last talked Lions Football in 1957.

Just kidding, most of it is desperation disguised as hope. Recently though, it has been more about the ability to watch a game for four hours and not have your team quit or get blown out. We have not been out of one game prior to the nearing of the end of the 4th quarter this year. I know, doesn't sound like much, but in our 0-16 year, here is what I accomplished-

1) painted a two story house

2) Painted the inside

3) Raked the leaves, twice

4) My wife and I became pregnant with triplets

Most of this was accomplished after 1:30 PM on Sunday, usually when the Lions were down 27-3.

Ha! By far my favorite all time visiting fan. You should stick around.

I'm honestly not sure what I'd prefer more, having a team that you just know is going to suck (Lions) or rooting for a team that teases you just enough for you to be really upset (Jets). Kind of sucks both way. At least you've had your other teams win. I always say, if it werent for getting into the University of Florida, I'd be in sportsfandom misery...Jets, Mets, Knicks...I like the Magic too because I moved from NY to Orlando at a young age...and guess what, they suck too!

Good luck Sunday bro. I think its got to be fun watching Stafford, CJ and Best grow up.

You're forgetting Pettigrew. He's going to be a very nice piece in that offense. I know far too much about the Lions.
