IF THE JETS BLOW THIS I'LL HAVE TO GO INTO THE WITNESS PROTECTION AND RELOCATION PROGRAM

Detroit News Article

Jets coach Rex Ryan certainly doesn't lack any confidence when it comes to his football team, especially on defense. "I don't know what you guys are expecting, but the best defense in the National Football League is coming to town," Ryan said in a conference call with local media Wednesday.

The Lions host the Jets on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Ryan said he certainly doesn't expect the Lions to continue their scoring average of nearly 38 points per game at home this season.

"Nope, I don't," he said. "I don't believe that's going to happen. Yeah, they could come out and prove me wrong, but I doubt it. This is a proud group right here on defense. We haven't really been healthy and we're just now getting healthy. Like I said, you'll see; we have an excellent defense.

"Do we expect to shut out Detroit? Of course not, they have a very talented team and all that kind of stuff, but this is a great defense coming into town."

The Jets enter Sunday's game second in scoring defense (15.7) and seventh in yards allowed (307.3) in the NFL.

Wow, this guy will never learn.

He really could be the dumbest coach in the NFL. "PRIDE COMITH BEFORE THE FALL" ;)

Like the time beliscum got busted for cheating and tainted everything about your entire franchise. :rl:

Before you started posting, Oxoboxo was the dumbest guy on the internet.

If you need extra motivation to win a football game, you're not winning very many.

So, I guess you're saying that the Pats just weren't motivated enough in week 3, is that right?

I'm thinking they were motivated in Week 3 just fine since they won.

In week 2, however, they must not have been. :)

Quoted for historical reference.

One follow-up since the Jets are clearly not a good team and Mark Sanchez is so bad, how did they make it to the AFC Championship game last season?

I've never once said the Jets are not a good team (they are) and that Sanchez is a bad (he isn't) QB.

He already said, we got the biggest gift in sports history, that was strike 16.

Well I tend to agree the Vikings D held the Lions to 10 points, granted no Stafford, but I still think were good enough to hold them to 17 or less, I would lean toward the less.

The main question will be, will Sanchez, Schotty, Greene, Keller, Holmes, and Cotchery get their heads out of their asses. I havent commented on it at all, but those are the people IMO who deserve equal blame for last weeks debacle.

Dear Rex,

Moar turnovers please! 2nd half is the time of year when your D comes alive. Make it happen.

Signed,

Some a$$hole on the internet

Their offense really isn't scary if you keep Johnson in check....maybe that's my AFC bias kicking in, but w/e bro it seems true enough.

Duh. Problem is, NO ONE can keep Calvin Johnson "in check", including Revis & Cromartie.

Cool defeatist attitude bro...Chicago and Minnesotta did it...if this D can keep Andre Johnson in check then they can keep CJ in check...especially since Cromartie matches up well with freakishly tall WR and Revis has that man strength of his.

Let's not pretend that everyone in the universe except the NFL's officials recognized Johnson's game-winning TD at the end of that Bears game that was called not a touchdown. Throw in the fact that Stafford is, once again, healthy, and it's a recipe for an outstanding 2nd-half of the season. When Johnson is owning even with Shaun Hill and Drew Stanton behind center, you know you're in trouble with Stafford back.

The Lions aren't there yet.

Calvin Johnson is a legitimately great talent. He's not a force of nature, and he can be held in check. Even if you throw away the Bears game...the Vikings did a really nice job on him.

I'm talking about an outstanding 2nd half of the season for Johnson, not necesarilly the Lions.

Oh yeah...He's capable of going yard every time the ball comes within his vicinity...Just do what the Giants did and try to minimize his damage, get a lead, and THEN give up the garbage time 80 yard TD.

CJ would most likely beat Cromartie like a drum a la Brandon Marshall. Probably much, much worse. This is the game where Revis needs to really earn his coin. 2009 Revis could do this job.
