Jets put out the word:No Merriman claim.

I would assume no one will put a claim on Merriman, he will then be free to sign where ever he wishes, or should I say who ever is willing.

If this is true then I could see the Jets doing there due diligence, since then he can be had at a bargain price, but still would be shocked if he landed here. Would think a desperate 3-4 team might take a shot, Broncos, maybe Cardinals.

Defensively speaking we arent as good as we were last year. The lack of a potent pass rusher has me to belive teams are more prepared for are all out blitzing schemes. Merriman would help out considerably as JT hasnt been much of a force to be reckoned with down after down.

I agree with the whole JT thing. Something has to be wrong with Merriman he has not been the same player in over 2 years, either the roids or injurys has caught up to him, someone will take a chance on him, but not on waivers at his price tag, they will let the chargers pay him and then sign him at minimum, I would be shocked other wise.

Or if he clears waivers Tanne does his magic again...

No one's going to claim Merriman...someone might claim Moss, but no one is going to claim Merriman. He's best as a buy low pickup...his market should be much larger if/when he hits unrestricted FA.

Why do you think that it's being reported that the Bills will put in a claim for Merriman then? I think a smart move would let him go through waivers to save money. But the Bills haven't been run like a smart franchise since Polian is calling the shots nearly 20 yrs ago.

The other side is that maybe they felt competition in FA wouldn't end well for them. They probably claimed him because they actually want him. Personally, I won't knock that since I really think his demise is overstated and that he's exactly the kind of talent a smart team wants to try to salvage.

I wish Merriman alot of luck because he's one helluva talent. I doubt he extends with that sh*t thread of a franchise even if he shows to be worth an extension.
