Edwards: Sanchez hasn't earned right to criticize

08:07 AM ET 11.05 | While he will apparently be fined for poor body language, Mark Sanchez, as long as he wants to stay on the good side of Braylon Edwards, will keep his criticisms to a minimum, too. Edwards said that Sanchez, who has accepted full responsibility for his -- and others -- mistakes, needs to gain more experience before he can start calling out his teammates. "Once a quarterback gets to a certain point, where his mistakes are far and few between ... it's hard to be that (critical) when your mistakes are at a substantial level," said Edwards.

Anyone else see this?

I saw it this morning and I thought it made alot of sense.

Sanchez can knock anyone he wants when this is his offense and he doesn't suck. As of right now, he's very prone to making mistakes, some that are costly, and therefore it's hard for him to be taken seriously if he was to criticize someone about the offenses production.

I get that. I was confused as to why Braylon was even mentioning it? I mean he said that Sanchez was placing the blame on himself and even taking more away from his teammates.. so why even mention how he shouldn't be talking about it if he isn't talking about it?

Yeah, that didn't really make a whole hell of a lot of sense.

My guess is he was asked or someone pressed the topic...Braylon doesn't strike me as someone who beats around the bush. He's had to deal with the media for a long time and he knows that very few, if any, answers fall under the "right answer" category.

After he says it it's up to us to interpret it...I don't think he said it to dick Sanchez or anything. It's a 100% true statement anyway...If Sanchez DID knock anyone within the offense then he'd lose the locker room in a hurry...

Edwards is the same guy who said the receivers may have just gotten too arrogant for their own good Sunday...I like this guy alot...Sounds like someone who in 4-5 years we'd appreciate as a leader in the locker room.

It seems like Edwards was responding to a question along the lines of "Was Sanchez critical of his receivers for all of the drops against Green Bay?"

Non-story.

Yep, knowing what Edwards said early in the week about the offense being arrogant...I highly doubt this wasnt taken out of context or he wasnt asked a specific question about how the drops affected Mark.

However, the could be the brilliance that is Rex Ryan and creating purposeful distractions during game week. It worked so well for 2 weeks, especially when it was BE related.

I expect big things coming now.

I like this. Gives us sh*t to attack and banter over for the week as the team does it's own thing.

It also gives me the thought that Braylon is Rex's boy...Played in the same division at one point...I'm sure Rex heard some things from his brother and Mangini about Braylon...Braylon tended to play really well against the Ravens as a Brown...After this I'm making sh*t up but there's alot of little hints since Braylon's been here that the Jets really, really like this guy and got him mid-season last year for a reason.

It's CIMINI. Reminder: it's CIMINI. This is what he tries to do, sees problems with the Jets which aren't there. He is just a douchebag trying to stir up controversy. Don't worry.

Except it wasn't Cimini. Cimini no longer works for the Daily News. Apparently Manish Mehta has begun taking douche lessons from Gary Myers.

WR Braylon Edwards insisted that his critical comments of Mark Sanchez were taken out of context Thursday. Edwards and Jets spokesperson Bruce Speight maintained that he was speaking to quarterbacks in general, not Sanchez specifically, when he said, "Once a quarterback gets to a certain point, where his mistakes are far and few between … it's hard to be that (critical) when your mistakes are at a substantial level."

Well, like all things media, you probably did not see the whole round of questioning. I am sure they left out some of the questions.

They most likely asked a leading question about if Sanchez calls out his players. That's the problem with quotes, they take the crap that might create dissent.

But, what Braylon said is correct, a young QB should not show up his teammates. Eventually, he'll be able to demand they do the right stuff.

Now, time to get in the car and drive the 10 hours to Detroit

Sanchez has improved enough this year so that he is slowly beginning to take charge of the team, and clearly will continue to do so next year, (if there's football). It is the function of QB's to call out teammates who make mistakes, so that process might as well start now.

Besides, the receivers really did do badly in that game-well thrown balls bouncing off their hands and turning into interceptions, defensive players reaching in and taking the ball right out of the hands of the receivers, etc. It was bad, you must admit.

well said, and I think the best way to do that is on the bench, not on the field where every one can see you

I agree with Braylon. Until mark Sanchez stops sucking he shouldnt speak on the suckage of anyone else.

they all need to STFU.....WR's couldnt catch a ****in ball last week and Sanchez couldnt throw straight have the time....

Agree.

This is just Cimini trying to fabricate a "rift" where there isn't one. Sanchez took the blame on everything last week, even the drops. Non-story is right.

Cimini is a wretch.
