stoicsentry
This game is about field position. Jim Leonhard COME ON MAN. Sigh. Yeah DLJ said the same thing last year, till I pointed out that punt returns just generally don't go that far. If you actually look at the REAL stats, Leonhard is #8 in avg. visajets
Sigh I want a burner and someone who lights it up and gives us decent field position.

SenorGato
+1 We need a new safety too. I'm not so sure this isn't Jim Leonhard's last season as a Jet now that I think about it.
redman81
Would def like to see someone with more burst back there. Even if he gets same average as Leonard, we'd still have that "any given play" type of speed that can break one here and there, which it doesn't seen Jimmy can do. Lupz27
We actually have one, but they don't use him for some reason maybe because he has had some uncharacteristic fumbles this year, that mans name is Santonio Holmes. The Eagles use DJack so dont tell me you dont risk your star WR getting hurt.

#27TheDominator
We actually have one, but they don't use him for some reason maybe because he has had some uncharacteristic fumbles this year, that mans name is Santonio Holmes. The Eagles use DJack so dont tell me you dont risk your star WR getting hurt. The problem with this plan is that Holmes isn't actually as good as Leonhard on punt returns. Holmes career average is 8, Leonhard's is 9.9. Holmes averaged 10.2 in 2006, but that was based mainly on one long TD. Leonhard averaged 11.6 as recemtly as 2008 and was getting 11.3 before yesterday's game. Holmes didn't return any punts in 2007 or 2010 and only 2 in 2009. The team has other options - Brad Smith, McKnight and Wilson among others. You can bet they tried all those guys and Leonhard is just better. Funny thing is, the team could probably stand to lose Holmes more than Leonhard. They are deeper at WR than S.
Jetsfan80
We need a new safety too. I'm not so sure this isn't Jim Leonhard's last season as a Jet now that I think about it. I think Leonhard is too crucial to Rex's D to let go but I could be wrong. Pool will DEFINITELY be replaced. He's a JAG.
Smashmouth
Leonhard is bach there because he has sure hands no one else on the team is a real threat so why not hold onto the football rather than fumble it away for what might amount to a few good returns during the season. I would like to keep the ball thank you. I cringed yesterday when Wilson was revieving that punt before our game tying drive WTF were we thinking putting him back there ?
