CrazyCarl40
go team Cano's is deserved. Tex was a toss up as Daric Barton probably deserved the nod. Jeter winning gold gloves is becoming a joke at this point. Just goes to show how meaningless they can be.

Maxman
Guys the range is probably an issue. And I have no idea what that stat that Thor put up there is. But Jeter played a full season and made 6 errors. That is pretty steady. The award isn't called the dazzle them in the hole and make 20 errors award. You can make fun of Jeter for not hitting last year though, that is fair game until he rebounds next season.

NIGHT STALKER
I guess if you can not get to a ball in the hole you can not make an error. Barton
His problem is going to his left Frank...those days of getting to a ball over second are shot. true. I think his biggest problem was he never got great jumps on the ball from SS. When he was younger, he was able to make up for it w/speed in some cases, but even then his range was never among the best. Strange for a guy who has great instincts in every other area to have poor ball reactions on grounders off the bat.
AFJF
Jeter didn't deserve the award but I think the outcry is funny. Only because there wasn't this much crying when Palmeiro won one in the 90's despite only playing something like 11 games a 1B while primarily serving as a DH. THAT was the one that exposed the GG as being a joke. Far more than this one does.

I'm more pissed about Zimmerman not getting the GG in the NL than Jeter's thing...

Greenranger
Which is exactly what the people who actually vote for GG's care about. Fielding percentage takes into account everything a player does on defense, which is what the Golden Gloves are all about. I don't get why he didn't deserve it. Sharrow
You could stand still at SS, never move and still have a 100% fielding percentage depending on who's scoring errors.

Bugg
Fielding percentage takes into account everything a player does on defense, which is what the Golden Gloves are all about. I don't get why he didn't deserve it. Except range. If you don't get to a ball, it doesn't figure into fielding percentage. It's theoretically possible that statuesque player who stood in one spot and never moved but fielded those balls hit right at him cleanly would have a 1.000 fielding average.Simply defensively Elvis Andrus has way better range than Jeter. Andrus got to 659 balls, Jeter only 553 in roughly the same number of games and innings. And on the outer edge of those tough balls, any player no matter how good is more likely to have a more difficult play. Heck, at times Jeter's first name has been "Gets past a diving..." . He's a HoFer but he got this Gold Glove on rep alone.
