New Bills linebacker Shawne Merriman had to leave practice today about 15 minutes into the workout after sustaining an injury to his lower right leg.

Merriman was participating in a routine position drill with the linebackers, packpeddaling and pivoting to the left when he took a hop and walked toward the sideline. Merriman walked over to confer with a trainer, and then walked to midfield and talked with Bills head trainer Bud Carpenter. Merriman walked off the field with a slight limp and went into the trainers' office. It was not clear if Merriman had tweaked his Achilles tendon or his calf.

Merriman was claimed off waivers by the Bills last week after being cut by the San Diego Chargers. He had been bothered this summer by a sore right Achilles tendon, which caused him to sit out part of preseason and the Chargers' season opener. It's an ailment that has acted up on and off for several years. He missed most of the Chargers' third game and all of the fourth with a sore left calf. Merriman had a "sleeve" on the left leg during Wednesday's workout.

Hey...sure you got the facts wrong about him not producing after the steroid thing...the point is he walked off with a slight limp today so you're right. Savor this for victory is forever fleeting.

He has gone down hill significantly since then. He can't stay healthy. Steroids ruined him. Deny it all you want in it FACT.
