Wayne Chrebet Interview

What would be interesting to know is how Chrebet feels about some of the recent mandates related to helmet to helmet hits.

-Are they just a natural part of the game?

-Does the league need to do a better job in protecting its players?

-Did he feel that certain players were out to cause intent to injure?

-Based on what he knows now, and how he feels, would he have played the game any differently?

Is he still feeling any effects from his concussions? Also, how many has he had throughout his life. I've seen varying numbers reported.

I saw him at Florham Park earlier this season. He told a group of kids that he had 11 during his career. Wow....

One of my all time favs...

What is his proudest moment in Football?

What is his favorite memory playing for the Jets?

Who was his big brother type on the team while he was a rookie/who was his mentor?

What is he doing now?

Thanks, definitely have to ask him about the leagues role in this, good point.

Good questions, JiF and ScottDierking.

Max, ask him if he felt that playing with Pennington and his lack of zip put him and other receivers in some bad positions to get lit up. If he hedges, ask him if to compare playing with Vinny vs. Playing with Chad--he'll slip there and throw Chad under the bus. Set the trap, Max. Spring it.

Very interesting. We only have him for about 10 minutes, if I get him to admit that Chad's arm caused his injuries that would take up the whole time. Wayne would be like, can I call you back to finish talking about this? :D

Did the interview this morning. Was wrapped up with my real life job until 2 minutes before the interview. So I do apologize for my lack of prep. Thanks to everyone here for the question suggestions, I used many of them. I appreciate the help!

I will check out the audio file and see if it is clear enough for a podcast. Either way I will release it tonight.

Thanks!

We had an interview opportunity with Wayne Chrebet this week.  Chrebet is working with Procter & Gamble (P&G) in support of its official NFL sponsorship, “Take it to the House” and the Connecticut-area semi-finalist in the program’s photo contest.

Richard Geremia Jr. of Northford, CT has been selected as the third photo contest semi-finalist in the “Take it to the House” program, which will be running throughout the course of the NFL season.  To be selected, Geremia submitted a picture of how him and his football family celebrate NFL game day (photo is below).  Richard Jr. and his family have won a meet-and-greet with Chrebet, a $10,000 donation to a local health & wellness organization in the Northford area in support of NFL PLAY 60, which encourages kids to be active for 60 minutes a day, a year’s supply of P&G’s products and the chance to win a trip to the 2011 Pro Bowl in Hawaii.

We asked Wayne about the recent NFL mandates regarding player safety and his concussion history.  He also spoke about Keyshawn Johnson, the 2010 Jets and their Super Bowl chances and got his thoughts on the new stadium.

You can listen to the interview by clicking Play on the toolbar below.  Here is more information on the Take it to the house program.
