fire everybody

only 3 players worth keeping

marshall is a baby

lol.what a difference a half a season makes.couldnt happen to a better fanbase

I almost could feel sorry for them until I went back and thought about all off season with their "we beat you 3 times in a row" stuff. Somebody should dig up the threads of when they beat Favre in the last game of that season.

Babies. They have a lot of nice building blocks on that roster. Get Sparano out of there, get some DB's, and bring in a coach that can handle an offense and that team will be alright. At least when Jets fans whine it's usually with good reason. Kinda.

Who? Wake, Long, Bess, Marshall, Polite, Dansby, Vonate Davis, and Carpenter the kicker-that's not even 10 guys who are 'keepers' TS

Paul Solai has emerged as a good NT and will earn an extension for his stellar play.

who else Ang? I'm serious I mean there has to be a couple of other guys at least on the defensive side of the ball...Ricky and Ronnie are pretty much done down here don't you think?

YEa it's time to inject some youth into the backfield. No doubt we still have alot of holes to fil,But There is a solid core of young players for this team to continue to build around. The offseason fetish the coaching staff has with playing musical chairs with the O-line has got to stop. sh*t wasnt broken so there was no need to fix it.

I just don't see Ireland and Sparano surviving this mess-you hear the radio down here

Started a backup C who got injured in the 1st half. Plugging in a natural G at center. That's brutal.

Yeah. Plus Carey went out in the 4th, though I guess it didn't matter by then. I just don't understand how you judge the players or coaches based on the mash unit that took the field last night.

by not doing a better job in evaluating the best 53 players available-after the starters the Fins are very thin in talent-you see it every week on ST's is where it shows up the most Batman

Dolphins run game historically anemic

November, 19, 2010

By Tim Graham

\

The Miami Dolphins were forced to start their third-string quarterback Thursday night against the Chicago Bears.

Tyler Thigpen revealed during the week he hadn't taken a single practice rep since the regular season began, and he had only three days to prepare for his first start in two years.

Dolphins running backs Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown combined for just six carries for 11 yards against the Bears. One might think the Dolphins would help him out by letting Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown take as many handoffs as possible.

Whoever would dare think such a thing turned out to be dead wrong. The Dolphins abandoned the run in a 16-0 loss at Sun Life Stadium. It was only the second home shutout in 40 years for Miami.

"You know, that was our game plan," Pro Bowl left tackle Jake Long said. "We wanted to come out and establish the run and then protect Tyler. We didn't do either of them."

Three quick nuggets that should disgust Dolfans:

The Dolphins rushed for only 39 yards, their worst output since Tony Sparano became head coach.

They have rushed for under 100 yards in each of their past eight home games, the longest current streak by any NFL team and the longest such streak in Dolphins history, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

They tied a franchise record for fewest combined rushes by fullbacks and running backs with seven.

Seven rushing attempts? This from the team that was known for fielding one of the most punishing ground games in the NFL since Sparano took over in 2008.

Brown ran three times for 10 yards. Williams ran three times for 1 yard. Patrick Cobbs ran once for 1 yards. Lousaka Polite didn't have any carries.

Where did the other 27 rushing yards come from? Thigpen on six scrambles, preventing the Bears from adding to their sack total of six.

The only other times Miami running backs ran seven times were, as you would expect, during the Dan Marino era: in a 42-20 loss to the Washington Redskins in 1990 and in a 34-7 loss to the Bears in 1988.

Don Shula watched Thursday night's game from the Dolphins bench. Offensive coordinator Dan Henning calls plays from the booth. I wonder what Shula might've said to Henning had they been on the sideline together.

Sparano justified the low number of handoffs by pointing to the fact the Bears dominated time of possession at nearly 38 minutes, leaving the Dolphins with only 48 offensive plays.

The Dolphins also went into the game with a banged up offensive line and lost center Cory Procter to a knee injury early. That forced left guard Richie Incognito to handle snaps.

"We didn't get out of our way on offense," Sparano said. "We couldn't help ourselves there and really couldn't get off the field consistently on defense.

"So starting to talk about whether or not you didn't run the ball or throw the ball -- now, at one point you're down 16 points you've got to throw the ball."

Dunno about that. Between the Berger, Long, and QB injuries, that game was a fait accompli. The only reason it was interesting is that the Bears are terrible. Particularly given what happened last Wednesday, I just don't see how today is the day of reckoning for Fin fans.

Sup, Jimmy. I think in Long, Davis and Henne, Parcells has filled the toughest three positions to find with good, young talent. Of course, it depends on how well Henne responds to the next coach, but I'm not counting him out. Dude has been prolific at times, if inconsistent.

Also, defensively, Dansby and Wake might be among the top 10 LB's in the AFC, and throw in Misi (who has shown promise) and that group can be nice for years to come. Langford, Starks and Solai--also pretty good along the DL.

The last thing I want to do is fellate the Dolphins, but I think Parcells left a lot of parts in place there for the next coach.

I'm still seeing maybe a dozen players worth keeping and that's about half as many as the number should be looking at the next season-I agree on Henne-i think he has potential and as a FOOTBALL fan i hated seeing what Miami did to him last week in benching him for Noodle Arm

HE really has, just looking back at the 2007 roster compared to now and its night and day.

on this: what is cool about this site is we can make an objective analysis of our rivals' situations because we pride ourselves as being knowledgeable football fans first and foremost

I hope it's not Ryan. You can have Gruden, and Cowher will be taking the Carolina job when Fox is let go.

Carolina can have the Chin. While i think he's a great coach and all, I think winning in Pittsburgh has more to do with the Ownership and FO than their coaches. I'll take Ryan all day. Love the defense. Love the attitude. And would certainly be intresting to have the Ryan Brothers go head to head as rivals twice a year.

I hope they keep Sparano - LOL! Any remote chance of that happening? Any buzz down there on what the ownership is thinking?
