NFL football is an inferior product to college

I just can't get excited for the game tomorrow.

My college (Northwestern) just played one of the worst games I have ever seen on the defensive side of the ball..

They allowed 569 rushinig yards....

I'm sorry, but I definitely get more into the college game.

An NFL game can take a while. But it's nothing compared to going to an NCAA game broadcast on network TV. The clock stops for EVERYTHING.And let us all understand; those math genuises at Northwestern didn't know the ivy walls of Wrigley wouldn't safely accomodate a regulation football field, or did they eff up when they laid the stripes down? Either way, what an embarrassment for what should have beena fun game for all involved.

And can add I watched parts of both games today at Wrigley and Yankee Stadium. And not one other college game.

I just can't get enough of Alabama vs Georgia State-type games every week. Wake me up when they get a playoff system.

See, Division I cannot accomodate that playoff stuff because the student-athletes might miss class. Even though most schools are off most of December. And most of these players are taking the bare minimum of easier credit hours in the fall semester to stay eligible, if these atom-splitting Cam Newton-types go to class at all. And Division 2 and 3 can and do have playoffs. And they cannot have a playoff because of the sacredness of the Holiday Bowl, the Motor City Bowl, the Chick-Fil-A Bowl, the Pinstripe Bowl and the Gator Bowl.

So instead of watching some of the best games college football had to offer today you watched two of the crappiest?

Those games were compelling if only for 5 minuters because of the settings. Ole Miss/LSU might have been compelling if there was the potential for at at large bid in a 16-team tournament, like if Ole Miss won, LSU stays home. As it stand now, WGAF.

Get a playoff system. Until then Division 1 is effed. They could have December Madness. Instead they have The Sun Bowl.

I couldnt disagree more.

Talent is better, games are better, system is better, coverage is better...the only thing the college game has on the NFL is live game experience (tailgating, crowd, passion). Thats it...everything else favors the NFL.

NFL is king and all sports are inferior.

As a die hard Gators fan, there was nothing interesting about us playing Appalachian State yesterday. Way too many of those games.

+1,000,000

The sanctimonious excuses always make me chuckle. I'd have more respect for the NCAA (the world's most profitable child labor cartel) if they just came out and said that they wanted to preserve the facade that all 59 of their crappy bowl games are worth watching.

Did you watch Arkansas/Miss St? Exciting finish to a good game. Does there have to be something on the line for games to be enjoyable?

Also the biggest plus in my opinion is true rivalries, there is nothing better then rivalry games where the teams, organizations, fans all just want to beat the sh*t out of each other. That rarely happens in professional sports these days.

Maybe I just like consistently rooting for an underdog. Every year it seems that Northwestern gets the chance to play some major programs, and nothing in the world feels better than winning those games.

The problem is Northwestern is 1-6 in games where they are ranked or on the cusp of being ranked under Fitz.....

It's annoying to beat teams like Iowa one week, and then witness a complete egg in Wrigley field.

The rivalries are great...but there are plenty of long standing rivalries in the NFL. As much as I love, FL vs. UGA or FSU or Tenn...nothing gets me more anxious than Jets vs. Phags or Patsies.

Maybe I just like consistently rooting for an underdog.

Then being a Jets fan is right up your alley.
