Vince Young no longer Titans starter, Jeff Fisher says Quarterback abruptly left LP Field after overtime loss to Redskins

By Jim Wyatt

THE TENNESSEAN

Vince Young is no longer the Titans starting quarterback after he abruptly left LP Field following Tennessee's 19-16 overtime loss to Washington today, Coach Jeff Fisher said.

Young, who had been booed in the first half and left the game in the second half because of a thumb injury, tossed his shoulder pads into the stands as he left the field.

Minutes later he emerged from the locker room dressed in street clothes. Safety Michael Griffin, wearing only a pair of shorts, ran out of the locker room and chased Young up a ramp to the players' parking lot, but was unable to catch him.

Fisher, who addressed the media after the incident, said Young has a torn flexor tendon in his thumb that might require surgery. Fisher also said there was no excuse for Young's actions after the game and the fifth-year pro is no longer the starter.

Jeff Fisher is a GREAT coach. Top five in the league, bar none.

The Titans draft athletes and Fisher turns them into football players.

The fact that he took the team to the playoffs with Vince Young as the QB and Lendale ******* White as the RB speaks volumes about Fisher.

As for Vince, it's not 2006 anymore, and LP Field isn't the Rose Bowl. He was lucky to have a starting job in the first place. Most tams would have given up on him years ago.

excuse me, but VY has a passer rating of 100 this year! this has to be a joke...

you just hate VY because it helps justify your post from his rookie season declaring him a bust before he won ROY lol

Ah, passer rating...the same metric that would lead one to believe that Chad Pennington was an all-time great.

And, let's not open the ROY can of worms again. That was a joke. If the overhyped Reggie Bush had put up Maurice Jones-Drew's stat-line, VY wouldn't have received a single vote. Pocket Hercules got raped by the hype machine.
