Bleedin Green
Sucks that Frazier finally came in to a job like this. He's been long overdue for a shot. Agreed, but I'm not sure if I'm the Vikings I don't ride it out with Frazier after this year. He can't realistically be expected to do too much with this group, and he's one of the top candidates out there. I don't think it would be a horrible idea to tell him he's their guy and give him some latitude to start putting things together the way he wants and not have to worry about scrounging together meaningless wins. serphnx
It's about time he got a shot. I honestly don't understand how he has never had a chance before. He will probably actually get that crappy group actually playing at least. First thing he should do is bench that bum Favre. He does that and he gets instant respect from the players I bet (and hate from the media, but **** them).
Integrity28
Favre is officially a coach killer. Think about the lengths that Mangini and Childress went to for Favre, then think about how both coaches lost their locker room, the team fell apart and the coaches got fired. Well... if Schotty leaves, Childress ain't a bad OC option. He's definitely going to have a chip on his shoulder.

Bob
Add Childress to the list of people screwed by Favre. A list, by the way, that still does not include Jenn Sterger.

serphnx
At least they won't have to ask for a Rooney Rule exception like the Cowboys do with Garrett... If the Vikings actually used the Rooney Rule before they wouldn't have been stuck with guys like Tice and Childress, who in no merit based environment could possibly be better candidates than guys like Tomlin and Frazier. Actually, I think they just suck at choosing HCs. They did have Denny Green for awhile, and also ignored Rex Ryan.

Without judging the merit of the Vikings past decisions, I was merely pointing out how ludicrous it is to force a team to interview a minority candidate if they've already identified someone in-house who is qualified and considered a legit candidate around the league. Maybe Ted Cottrell can be the Cowboys token interview this offseason if the NFL forces them to satisfy the Rooney Rule.

If you've already identified the candidate, you still interview to get other people on file if you can't close on that candidate or for future vacancies, and for the candidate it's always good experience and an extra networking contact. Have you ever been in a hiring committee or interviewed for high level jobs? This is extremely common in most fields. Or does it just bother you that a minority would have the chance to take that job? I really don't know why you have a problem with this, but it's obviously somehow racially motivated as you keep harping on minority candidate. Irish Jet
I ma so ******* sick of the Vikings. Every single ******* week, along with the Cowboys, they have been the headline team on every show/site and NEITHER TEAM IS EVEN THE SLIGHTEST BIT ******* RELEVANT this season! Can't they save this garbage for the off-season? It's sickening already.

Of course it's racially motivated, that's what the entire Rooney Rule is. The NFL has stated that Jason Garrett cannot simply retain the job he now already has without having to go through an interview process for his job simply because he's white, while Leslie Frazier does not have to because he's not white. There is no poster on here making up their own racial issue out of it, it's as clear as day what the NFL's ruling on this situation is, and it's driven by only one thing, race. The Rams tried to put a clause in Jim Haslett's interim contract stating that if he won 6 games in that season that he'd get the job full-time, but the league deemed that to be a violation of the Rooney Rule. I guess it's better that some poor guy gets dragged into an interview in Dallas for a job that he has no shot of getting - if Garrett continues to lead the Cowboys to victories down the stretch - just so the league can hang their hat on promoting diversity. kelticwizard
So now Minnesota's collapse is all Favre's fault? Hey, they are the ones who went down to Mississippi to drag him up to training camp. He was all set to stay down there. As I recall, Favre rev-ved it up and damn near pulled the game out against us. He came damn close to pulling it out against a few other teams as well. I haven't seen every Vikes game, but of the ones I've seen he played pretty damn well. And all this with his number one possession receiver out of commission until last week. If they want to bench Favre because the season is lost and they want to see if Jackson has finally matured, go ahead. But if you are 21 points down at the beginning of the fourth quarter, there is a very short list of QB's who would give you a solid chance to win. And Favre is on that list.
