AFJF
One of my biggest fears is that Woodhead makes a game changing/winning play for the Pats. I hope the Jets take advantage of their weak secondary and open up a big enough lead to prevent any dramatics. Facing a team with a weak secondary would lead one to think we'll come out throwing the ball all over the place but somehow I doubt it.

He benefits from the Cheaters system more than anything. JAG
New York Mick
I dislike him. Of course you don't, he's white. He didn't fit on the Jets as well as he does the Pats so it makes sense we cut him and he's doing ok for the Pats but either way he's not going to do good against the Jets D. Jared
He benefits from the Cheaters system more than anything. JAG While I agree that the Jets offense doesn't use the screens and draws that Woodhead has been so successful on to nearly the same degree that the Patriots offense does, how can you tell the difference between a Woodhead and a Darren Sproles? What makes their offensive roles significantly different such that one is a "JAG" while the other is a quality third down/passing back? (I am assuming of course that you don't believe Sproles if a JAG. If you feel the same way about all small, quick RBs, then I retract the question, because it has a clear answer)

In the last two games, McKnight has made more plays on special teams in the last two games than Woodhead did in his limited time last year and two training camps combined. He did earn a spot, Mcknight did not. As bad as McKnight is, add in his lack of heart and determination and you have a pile of sh*t that MIGHT "get it" someday. With Woodhead you have a player who "gets it" now and is showing he also has the talent to back it up. If hes doing well just because of the scheme and all the wonderfull mismatches the Pats create with their coaching staff then you can look directly at sh*tty for not making it happen. The 3 comeback wins for the Jets were ALL on Sanchez' back making plays in a hurry up offense. As soon as Shotty setttles down to call plays our Offense goes bye bye. One of these weeks (lets hope to god its not in the playoffs) we wont be able to come back from 3 1/2 quarters of abysmal offense to win, then we go home. With the talent we have our offense should be prolific.

T0mShane
If you had a pass-first offense where you consistently saw nickel and dime defenses, and you had the personnel to go three and four wide a lot, then you can play Woodhead. He runs draws and screens in space. The Jets do not and cannot run that kind of offense and, as such, Woodhead would get killed here running into the line behind a fullback. The talent for being a puss and fumbling ? get real Klecko, Woodhead plays the game hard not scrappy, he breaks tackles, holds his balance well, and YES he can drive the pile with his leg strength, NONE OF WHICH McKnight has ever shown he can do. Not for nothing but when, exactly, has McKnight had the opportunity? When filling out roster spots teams have some tough decisions to make. One of the questions they need to ask themselves is which of these two young RBs has the bigger potential upside? No one who ever saw McKnight play at USC would ever answer "Danny Woodhead" when posed that question. Neither one of them was ever starting for the Jets this year. The Jets had to decide which one could potential give them more down the road and they chose the more physically gifted athlete. Not to mention that if Fred Taylor was healthy right now, Woodhead would likely not be on any NFL roster.

And Woodhead is showing you once again that the evaluation of talent in the NFL is fucikmg ridiculous. Everyone seems so damn caught up in what a player should or could be rather than whats staring them right in the freaking face. Same reason why VerNone is still on the roster ( that and the millions we paid him). When will we start using the god damn talent we have rather than hoping it gets good someday ? Why is is belichick is always able to pull the talent out of players ? Why is it that players like Deion Branch go to other teams (seahawks) and become ordinary yet play for the Pats and become world beaters ? Its called utilizing your talent and well designed plays, something thats very scarce on alot of teams in the NFL these days.

Jets Voice of Reason
You guys are ridiculous with this crap. When a 3rd RB is concerned a front office and a staff will most of the time pick the guy with higher upside. 4th rounders simply don't get cut in their 1st training camp unless it was a gross overdraft or the guy starts having legal trouble. Give it a rest. Mcknight's attitude bugged me too but i'm not going to judge if he's a bust or a wasted spot until i seem him develop and play. Smashmouth
You mean we are winning despite not having the all-time great Danny Woodhead on our team? How is that possible? Dont turn this into sillyness Kleck. I dont think Woodhead is a great player hes just a talented player who could have been used at times to create mismatches just like the Pats are doing. Hes a part time player who happens to make some big plays. Its not as much him, as it is the coaching. If he played every down he would probably get killed. My biggest problem is not the Woodhead debate as much as it is the Shotty debate. Since Shotty has no clue how to utilize the talent this team happens to be loaded with. All that being said who would you rather be running the ball if something happened to Tomlinson ?? Would you rather see mcKnight the fumbler step in down the stretch in playoff games or Woodhead ? Ask yourself that question. Fumbles lose games, heart never does. last year Greene fixed his fumble problems after the first few weeks. he will probably do the same this year do you trust McKnight to do the same if hes needed in the playoffs ? Do you trust our depth at RB ?

OR are players with insane speed and percieved talent drafted in the 4th round because they are what they are ? Hes soft, not much arguement there. 1st 2nd 3rd round picks get the shot 4th round and up have to earn a spot there is a reason why McKnight has not touched the football this year, they simply dont trust him not to cough it up. Not to mention if defenders just look at him he falls to the turf .
Jets Voice of Reason
The thing is smash the 1st through 3rd round tier is something you perceive and not something that actually goes on. Track the amount of 4th round picks that get cut in the first training camp. It's a low percentage each year. You and i just have a difference about how long it takes to judge a player. I have more patience with draft picks.
slats
You guys are ridiculous with this crap. +1 If McKnight had gotten cut, he'd probably be on the Pats right now playing at a higher level than Danny Woodhead. Why? Because he does have more talent. And you know the complaints around here would be, "What's with the Jets' love affair with the little white kid?" and, "How do you cut a fourth round pick and let him go to the Pats?" Instead it's, "I saw Joe McKnight for a few minutes on 'Hard Knocks,' so I know he sucks!" Woodhead wasn't seeing the field here. When he got on the field on special teams, he was a liability. McKnight has become a playmaker on specials in just a few weeks. I can envision McKnight having a similar career to Brad Smith. A jack of all trades guy. Maybe more RB than QB, maybe more WR, though, too. Playing all the kick and punt teams. Probably never a starter, just a good all around reserve. The guy is fast, and does not look like he's afraid to hit. People used to hate on Smith, too.

I had to look it up because I knew it wasn't awesome, but according to this nifty site (stats.NESN.com), Mark Sanchez's QB rating in a three-wide set is an abyssmal 66.7, which is good for 13th in the AFC and easily at the bottom of the NFL. Leading that pack? Rivers, Brady, Flacco, Manning. I just don't think Mark is ready to run a spread offense as yet. He's a play-action QB who doesn't seem to be a particularly cerebral QB (at least at this point).
