JetNation
Now that the hype has begun for the battle between the Jets and the Patriots next Monday night (Dec. 6th), lets take a look at the AFC Playoff picture. Division Leaders 1. New York Jets 9-2 East 2. Baltimore Ravens 8-3 North 3. Kansas City Chiefs 7-4 West 4. Jacksonville Jaguars 6-5 South Wild Card 5. New England Patriots 9-2 6. Pittsburgh Steelers 8-3 Still in contention San Diego Chargers 6-5 Miami Dolphins 6-5 Indianapolis Colts 6-5 Houston Texans 5-6 Tennessee Titans 5-6 Oakland Raiders 5-6 As you can see it is going to be a very close race, especially if you consider that Gang Green has to play Miami and Pittsburgh following their marquee match-up with the Pats. In some cases it could come down to conference record or division record to determine tiebreakers. So while many are going to put a ton of emphasis on the Jets showdown with their bitter rival, Gang Green cannot afford any type of letdown following that game. Any type of December swoon could push the Jets out of the playoffs. At the same time if the Jets can continue their winning ways, they could secure home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Wouldn’t that be some way to break in the new stadium? View the full article
Steveg
If it wasn't for a dropped pass in the endzone, Buffalo would have upset Pittsburgh. Thae Steelers having another loss before the Jets play them would be nice..

The Steelers are not a good team, they are lucky, they got lucky against the Dolphags, yesterday, and they got lucky against Bengals and that other team too. dolphann4life
there is a possibility you guys drop your next 4. And Miami wins out. We smash the Browns, Beat you guys, Beat the Lions, Beat the Bills and play NE who has nothing to play for becuase they got it all locked up and let us win to **** you guys. LionelRichie
Even though the Jets have tough games coming remaining the other teams in contention play each other too. The WC leaders will each have 1 more loss after this week as Jets vs Pats and Pit vs Balt will give the WC leaders 3 and 4 losses respectively. Other games remaining: Ind vs Jax (giving the loser 6 losses) SD vs KC (if SD wins KC gets 5 losses, if SD loses they are pretty much out of the WC) NYJ vs MIA (Jets would eliminate MIA with a W) I think 11-5 pretty much guarantees the Jets the WC, 10-6 and they still have a pretty good shot depending on tie-breaks. The way the Jets play on the road a WC isn't the end of the world.

dolphann4life
theirs also the possibility Henne transforms into Peyton Manning and I win the lottery. I really dont think its that far fethced. Obviously our toughest contest will be you guys, but I do believe we can beat you. I think you'll lose to the Pats and wouldn't be the least bit suprised if you lose to the Bears & Steelers. And if we went into the final week against the Pats and they locked up the division you can bet they let us win to keep you out.

Actually, the Jets will eliminate the Fish when they play and very likely will be tied with the Cheats going into the last week. The Jets demolish the Bills, and with the Fish having nothing to play for except for Sparano's job and revenge wind up destroying the Cheats. The Jets win the title and Finheaven goes into meltdown. More than likely the Jets and Cheats will be battling for the division going into the last week. Even in your far fetched scenario, the Cheats more than likely will be fighting for home field anyway the way the AFC is going.

LionelRichie
Yes they are and from an outsiders perspective you guys are too. You need to win out to have a chance. Henne always plays well vs the Jets so I think you have a chance but even if everything goes your way I could still see MIA laying an egg @ NE in week 17. hoping4ASuperBowl
Yes they are and from an outsiders perspective you guys are too. True. But from an outsiders perspective all these teams look beatable in some way. No one AFC team is dominating which just makes this year that much more interesting. Pats are gonna be really tough, but not as tough as Steelers or Bears.
billo83
Yes they are and from an outsiders perspective you guys are too. As are you guys. We are very beatable but yet are 9-2. What's your record? There's no reason to think we are going to lose 4 of the next 5 with 4 of those games against very beatable teams. No matter what, you will be 3 games behind the AFCE leader after next Monday with 4 games to go. Highley unlikely you even sniff the playoffs. Garb
One team that no one wants to see in the playoff's is San Diego - especially IN San Diego. I mean heck they even lost to the Jets twice out there in the playoffs. As long as Norv Turner is the head coach the Chargers will go nowhere in the post season. NYJ37/12
JETS could very well go 1-4 and need help getting in. Toughest schedule to the end. Monday nights game is just the beginning of a loooong stretch of tough games. imo, JETS get screwed Monday just like in the opener with bs calls that turn the game. Games most not looking forward to, Miami and Buffalo. Division games are always tough.

It is far fetched say tou do win out and we lose out to the final weekend, first we are not losing to the bills which would kill your theory as we would own tiebreakers on you so your out. 2nd neither of us probably gets in as I can see 2 other teams with 11 wins Chargers and Chiefs. 1 would win there division and 1 wild card. The AFC west is week and they play the NFC west which is even weaker. I would be shocked if the Chargers did not win out, and not that shocked if the Chiefs only lose from here on out is against S.D. While it's entirely possible the Dolphins could go on a run at the end of the season, I think you're trying to make yourself feel better with this thought that suddenly the Jets will completely collapse and lose every game. Let's be honest, the Jets aren't losing to the Bills, period. Beyond that, let's take a look at who else the Jets have to face: New England, who the Jets already have one win over, but could be tougher since this one's in Foxboro. Chicago, who's a pretty good team but nothing more, with the only real concern being that the game is at Solider Field. Pittsburgh, who's completely overrated, they were decimated by the Patriots and should have lost to both the Bills and Dolphins if not for luck far surpassing that which the Jets are credited with. That leaves your Dolphins, who the Jets have already beaten and now get to play at home in December. The Dolphins have given Jets issues recently in Miami, but last year in NJ they did next to nothing outside of a complete collapse by the Jets special teams coverage, and that was at the beginning of November. I'm not so worried about them doing much of anything in a December game and with a healthy Revis on Marshall and no Ted Ginn to make the only plays of his career against the Jets, the odds are not in the Dolphins favor. I'd say the Jets go 3-2 down the stretch at worst.
Lupz27
What a crazy year in the AFC, win your division and get a first round bye, your reward have either, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Ben Rapelesberger, or Phillip Rivers come in as your first opponent **** that sucks. Make the wild card week 1 vs Peyton, or Phillip in their house, with Brady waiting at his house. Boy the team to come out of the AFC will be the most deserving super bowl represenetive in a long time.
JerryK
The dolphin guy has a point when says we've seemed 'lucky' like the Steelers were in their close wins. I refuse to make any predictions on the coming games. But on the other hand, I'm glad we're no longer the ones saying "If we win out .....". Those days were not good times.
