In this game, they were lucky. If they do the same thing 3 or 4 weeks in a row, people will start to raise the same questions that are being raised about us. Regardless, only the Jets are "lucky" it doesn't matter.
bitonti
anytime someone says "the Jets (or whoever) beat a bad team by the skin on their teeth, therefore they ain't good" that person just illustrated they dont understand the NFL and probably never will. There are no such things as bad teams. the difference between a so-called great team and a so-called bad team is minuscule. in the NFL a big point spread is 13 points. In college a big spread can be 35 or 40 points. there are no bad teams and there's no easy wins.
JiF
The Steelers like the Jets are not a good Football team. They are a lucky Football team. The only good win they've had all year was opening day against the Falcons. But they were lucky to catch the Falcons on opening day not yet playing good Football. And they were lucky against the Dolphags, Bengals and the Bills.
shawn306
The Steelers haven't had the moment yet this year unless you consider their 35-3 thrashing of the Raiders that moment. Everyone jumped on the Steelers because they started off 3-1 while Roethlisberger was out serving his suspension. They caught a break against Miami, and their two games against "big teams", the Saints and the Pats they lost. Still though that won't make the trip to Pittsburgh any easier for the Jets. I actually think this is the most winnable game of the top 3 "tough" ones left. Pitt has looked downright awful at times. I don't see them as being a confident team right now. spjets
if it was for Palamala....they woulda lost alot more games...PITT is way over rated...
Sharrow
I don't think there's anyone who would be seriously willing to say the Bills are a better team than the Steelers. But they were lucky that guy dropped that TD pass. That was an unforced error.
Jared
Buffalo is better than their record. They are a team that just hasn't been able to "figure out how to win" yet. I have high hopes for mediocrity for them next year. 8-8 is entirely possible for them as they work their way back to respectability. Fitzpatrick looks like a real QB. Maybe not a top 5 or top 10 guy, but he could be a 10 win guy if they give him a supporting cast. That being said, I was never sold on Pitt as a top 5 team this year. I was expecting Pats/Jets/Ravens/GB/NO. Most teams have to have "luck" to win a lot of games. Look at the 2007 Pats, and some of the ridiculous wins late in the season that year (with the Rex Ryan Ravens game being the exemplar).
rillo
They got lucky against the Phags too...
jason423
I think the Steelers recent woes have seen alot of people jump off the bandwagon especially since they lose every time they play a decent team. At this point I think when people talk the best teams in the NFL they mention the Falcons, Patriots, Packers, and Jets. I have a feeling the Bears are now going to be in that list as they have displaced the Eagles.
neckdemon
this lucky thing annoys me. the steelers made more plays then the bills and won the game. thats the way it is. if the bills were better that day they would have won. it steve johnson were better that day he would have caught the ball. if this is the way they are going to go then might as well just call a defense lucky every time they force a 3 and out. after all they were lucky the other team didn't make any plays right? every time you intercept a qb you are lucky he threw it to the defender. every reception is just the offens ebeing lucky the qb made a good throw and the receiver caught it. sacks? just lucky you got a lane to the qb. it's stupid. at the end of the day...one team will have made more plays, scored more points, and won. the only real exception to this is an egregious call by an official that awards points. like the touchdown awarded to testaverde when he was like a yard short of the endzone. Every point here is 1000 percent correct, this "lucky" trash was started by fatsessa who as much as we dislike him he unfortunately controls a lot of what's talked about in ny. He started the whole groundswell of jet hatred last January and it has only picked up steam. His latest and greatest most outrageous theory is that every time the jets win he talks about how if you " take away 4 or 5 plays" the jets would've lost...REALLY!?!?! Because I'm pretty sure if you watch any NFL game every week, ( including his beloved giants ) you could say the same thing. JUST ABSURD, but he never gets called out because only jet haters call now, most jet fans have gone to 1050 . By the way I'm pretty sure if you take away 4 or 5 plays from very knicks- bulls debacle in the 90's that Ewing may have 6 rings and Jordan 0. kelticwizard
Of course the Steelers are not a lucky team. Their win against Buffalo is merely another example of how an excellent veteran NFL team takes advantage of the breaks they are given and turns them into wins. Now the Jets-that's just luck! The Crusher
In this game, they were lucky. If they do the same thing 3 or 4 weeks in a row, people will start to raise the same questions that are being raised about us. Either that or they will start mandatory blood testing for Leprechauns.
