Thoughts on Jets/Bengals Sound FX REPLAY

a few thoughts from the replay of the game on NFL network

*Rex Ryan is constantly massaging the refs and tweaking the opposition throughout the game.....this guy should be a hostage negotiator or a poker pro...every movement and word has a meaning......persuasion is an art form and this was like watching Jimmy Page riff on a guitar.....when i heard the line to Woody Johnsons mom about the lap band being a "Johnson and Johnson product" i realized that Rez Ryan isnt as dumb or "Shrek-like" as he acts...also, he is constantly in the opponents ear talking crap....the man is a wizard when it comes to massaging egos and dealing with people....if you are into studying human interaction like i am then enjoy the clinic the man puts on.

*The frustration on the Cincy sidelines was palpable.....Its no surprise at all but Marvin Lewis has completely lost that team....Owens was the main culprit of this...one time, in the begining of the game, he tried to bait OCHO into saying some disparaging words about the gameplan but OCHO knew he was miked up and said looked into the camera and said he was "good." Interestingly though, later in the game OCHO said something to the effect of "he only hustled for winners"...BYE BYE MARVIN

*The whole broadcast had a feel of a Super Bowl NFL FILMS highlight film...i caught myslef a few times during the broadcast saying to myself, "this is gonna be what its gonna look like when the Jets win the Super Bowl".....as a matter of fact, i read they used more cameras and mics for this game than the Super Bowl......Hopefully its a dry run for the real thing!

SORRY JETS/BENGALS

I also agree that the Jets were a reluctant participant in this venture. I don't think they wanted to open their process to prying eyes too much.

I wonder if either of the teams had final approval on content at all.

One note-On the SNY live press conference, they always show Ryan's post game locker room speech. Never before, had that locker room speech had a "new cut" inserted into it-it has always been a seamless production with no edit. I wonder if Ryan mentioned something about the Patriots and preparation, and did not want that used as "bulletin board" material.

Just a guess, but never before had that speech been cut.

I personally loved this broadcast. It really gives you a different perspective.

A couple of things I took away...

- Santonio Holmes is awesome. He loves being a Jet. Its obvious. I love how he is always suggesting things, I saw this in Hard Knocks too and I've read a bunch of articles where this is consistent. He really has a lot of on field leadership qualities and watching him standing up inciting the crowd was awesome. He plays with a boyish passion. I love it.

- I knew David Harris could speak but didnt actually believe it. ;-). He's a field general. We need this guy to get resigned. He plays with a lot of energy you'd never know he had because he's not a flashy guy. Is he the leader of this D? Watching that broadcast made me think so.

- Bart Scott walking of the field screaming about the D to the camera was epic. The pride he takes in the success of this D is amazing. I know why he is the extension of Rex. Wish we could have had a mic on him.

- Revis and Cro are very physical CB's. I'm wondering how much of the physical play has been taught here or how much he brought with him from San Diego.

- Rex Ryan is awesome.

- The Bengals got a lot of problems.

I just wonder if Holmes loves the Jets enough to lay down the pipe for the next 5 years

- The Bengals got a lot of problems.

The most telling sign was when they showed the Bengals pre-game "huddle/rah rah speech" from one of their lineman.....he was yelling the typica pre-game stuff about "how we are here to dominate and play Bengals football" and you could see the other guys in the huddle rolling their eyes like....."Really!?"

Completely agree about Santonio...he is the X factor this year.....Interesting that the in the rematch with the Pats...we add Santonio, they lose Randy Moss.....HUGE ADVANTAGE JETS

That, plus giving us a discount so we can resign some other guys too.

Yeah, they werent clearly not buying into what CS was laying down. Listening to the frustration of the OC was pretty telling as well.
